We found this motel through Tripadvisor, and found it to be as good as it had been reviewed. As others have stated, "it ain't the Ritz.". But it was very nice. The rooms, although small, were exceptionally clean. The owners were extremely friendly and very gracious. This is indeed a "deal." If you want a clean friendly place to stay that won't break your budget, this is the place.

We were a little hesitant at first to go with a cheap motel; but this place is AWESOME. It was exactly what we wanted: extremely clean, simple accommodations at a great price. The bed and pillows were nice and firm. The owners are friendly and helpful. When we first pulled in we were disappointed to see that the pool was in disrepair, but pleasantly surprised to learn that they have another, newer pool to replace the old one which was damaged in a hurricane. The pool is nice to take a cool dip after baking at the beach. Great beach access too, but that's not especially unique on the outer banks, although the tri-villages (Rodanthe, Waves, and Salvo) are much more quaint and laid back than the garish tourist-trap nightmare you find in Kill Devil Hills and Kitty Hawk. If we ever go back to the outer banks, we will definitely stay here!

Room Tip: We stayed in 203 which was great. Small bathroom, but that's what you are paying for. The bedr...

Much better than I expected. You will be pleasantly surprised, especially if you choose the slightly more expensive room (I stayed in both while there). The owners could not be nicer and do a great job keeping it clean, well run, and creating a family environment. Only a few minute walk from the beach. Definitely going back.

This is a GREAT place for the low price you pay. The rooms are recently remodeled so everything is new, clean, and wonderful. I was pleasantly surprised about how nice everything was. Definitely would go back and definitely recommend it!

If you require a big screen TV; 400 thread count sheets; and all of the other amenities of a modern 4/5 star hotel in a trendy destination, STAY AWAY-you will be disappointed. However if you are looking for reasonably priced, clean accommodations close to the beach, in a laid back beach town, give Sea Sound a try. As others have commented, the owners could not be more friendly and accommodating. Restaurants are within a short drive. I ended up walking to the closest one which took about 15 minutes. The motel and the town reminded me (in a good way) of how things used to be years ago. The beach which has wild surf is about a 2 block walk. The motel was damaged in last summers hurricane and although the rooms were in good shape, the pool was not yet open. I am already looking forward to returning.

Room Tip: I had a second story single room in the brick building which was very pleasant. The end rooms are l...

We recently vacationed in rodanthe, First of all we were 3 hours late getting to the motel but everything was ready for us. It was like stepping in to our own little beach house. The room was fresh and clean and I loved the way it was decorated. The owners were so nice and friendly. We are already planning to vacation there next year and this is where we will stay again.
