“Cozy small hotel in a wonderful place!”
Reviewed 18 January 2014

One hour from Marrakech and you get into family hotel. Very cozy, friendly and beautiful. At day you enjoy sunny mountains and at night there are sooooo many stars in the sky!
I'm sure that we shall return there one day.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in the middle of our honeymoon in September 2013 and had an absolutely wonderful time. The hotel is incredibly stylish, beautifully decorated in an art deco style, and very peaceful. Our bedroom had breathtaking floor to ceiling views of the mountains, a lovely balcony with a cushioned seat for pre-dinner drinks as the sun set, and a large comfortable double bed. Paul and all of his team offered us a first class service, with incredible food served under a jasmine canopy by the pool to soft jazz music (a real highlight), friendly non-intrusive service, and a warm welcome. We would 100% visit here again, and will forever treasure very fond memories of such a special place in the mountains.

It does exactly what it says on the bottle! The photos and description on the website are completely accurate. We were a party of 5 adults and 3 children taking 4 rooms. Paul and the team were great and couldn't do enough for us. The food was high quality (mostly French) and while it was a set menu for dinner the chef was completely flexible if anyone had a particular dislike. They also provided excellent kids' menu, again catering for individual preferences as much as possible. We took 2 treks with a guide with small children on mules and a packed lunch from the hotel which were great - the views were amazing and it was lovely to have no kids moaning about tired legs! My Mum celebrated her 80th birthday at Malika and the staff made a real fuss of her and provided an amazing cake with happy birthday sung in English, French and Arabic. We loved it!

Having been caught up in the chaos of an electricity-free Gatwick airport on Christmas Eve, we finally arrived at Domaine Malika, exhausted, hungry and six hours late. Our transfer had been arranged by Paul (of whom more, later!) and in spite of the alteration in our timing, went smoothly. Although a hour's journey from the airport, if done in the daylight the scenery is fascinating and a great introduction to the landscape of the area surrounding the hotel. Our welcome was genuinely warm and friendly and from the moment of our arrival we felt more like members of a family arriving for Christmas rather than hotel guests. Our room (a rather grandly named 'Royal Suite') was spacious and comfortable rather than luxurious and had a lovely terrace which would, I am sure, be very welcome during hotter months. Central heating in the room made it warm and cosy during the chilly nights. Views from the room were beautiful overlooking the foothills of the Atlas, the lovely gardens and pool. I would love to see the gardens when all the roses are out in bloom. We had lunch on an open terrace next to a large BBQ area and outside bar - again, great in warmer weather. Our Christmas night dinner was a wonderful experience and Paul, his mother and the rest of the lovely staff could not do enough to make the evening festive and fun for the guests. A Morroccan band appeared and included all the guests in singing and dancing! We stayed for three days and during this time took a two hour horse ride into the foothills of the mountains from the Rosarie Hotel stables. The terraine is challenging and the ride a quite scary In parts so do not embark on this unless you have some riding experience. My husband did not and regretted his decision to go! A two hour walk the next day took us through Berber villages and wonderful scenery to Wirgaine - again, there are some parts of this walk which are not for the faint-hearted especially one stretch of about 50 mtr, which is very narrow with a steep drop to one side. Well worth the effort in the end. Paul and his mother are the most charming hosts and Paul is exceptional in his ability to make sure you feel welcome and looked after. Nothing would be too much trouble for him and his energy and enthusiasm were boundless. If I ever planned another break in this area of Morrocco I would definitely stay at The Malika in preference to any other hotel however grand or luxurious it might be! A real gem in the valley. We had a Hamman and massage while there, both I would recommend, especially after a long day's trek. Good luck in the future, Happy New Year and Thankyou for a lovely Christmas escape!

We stayed here for three nights. Two adults and a boy of 1 year. We were the only guests in the hotel, so there was more quiet and space.

The area and the hotel's location is fantastic. It lies in a valley with mountains all around. There are excellent opportunities for trekking in the area, but it requires a short taxi ride if you want to get out on the really wild tours.

The staff at the hotel are incredibly professional and sweet. Service levels were crazy high. The owner Paul makes you feel right at home and is also extremely helpful and sweet. The food is an experience in itself and can not be compared with other meals in Morocco. It is so much better.

It is not the last time we have been here and we can not recommend it enough. Visit it!

My husband and I stayed here for several days during out honeymoon and had the most wonderful time. The staff were kind, the service professional and food was delicious. The owners were friendly and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Our room was large with stunning views over the swimming pool, gardens and onto the mountains and decorated specially to welcome us on our honeymoon. I highly recommend hiking or mule riding with the guide Mohammed who was amiable, imparting a wealth of knowledge about local flora and fauna. We did not use the spa as it was closed due to the Eid festival so I can't comment on that, but the pool is equipped with sun-loungers and the waiters will bring drinks and snacks. This hotel is an amazing place to relax and unwind - we really had an unforgettable stay. Many thanks Hotel Malika!

I truely enjoyed our stay at Domaine Malika. The property is in a lovely setting and our room had fantastic views over the mountains. The staff are what makes this place so wonderful, from Paul who runs the place to perfection down to all his staff members. A special mention must go to the fabulous food. Although there is no menu and all the guests eat the same it could not have been better and the quality worthy of a first class restaurant!
The weather was not warm enough to make use of the pool but that didnt matter as we entertained ourselves by going on local walks (map provided by Paul) through berber villages and in the mountains - perfect!
We also made use of the traditional hammam which i highly recomend.

We loved our stay and would like to thank Paul and his team for making us feel so very welcome.
