“Foshan's top attraction - easy to see why.”
Reviewed 21 March 2014 via mobile

TA lists this as Foshan's top attraction, and it's not hard to see why.

The guanyin statue at the top of the mountain is massive, and a cable car takes you most of the way up. From the top cable car station, there is a short (but steep!) walk to the statue itself.

The forest park contains a number of other attractions, and these are worth exploring, time permitting.

Try to plan for a mid-week visit, and avoiding weekends and public holidays.

To make the most of your visit, you should allow for a full day.

“Visit”
Reviewed 16 February 2014

Words cannot fully express. Just visit the park. The admission fee was RMB 70 (in 2013) per person. Our visit was good as it was not so crowded. Don't visit on holidays.

“Big Buddha”
Reviewed 4 February 2014

Worth the arduous journey from Foshan. You can catch the number 2 tourist bus from Zumiao if you're in the Chancheng area: it drops you right at the front entrance in a cloud of peach blossom aroma, which is lovely. Don't worry about being ripped off by taxi drivers; you can reach the Bodhisattva Guanyin statue by cable car (30 yuan return) followed by a steep but pleasant walk. The scenery is beautiful and there is a lot to see - go early to fit everything in. There's a lot of incense burning and firecracker cracking going on, very interesting.

It would be nice to have some information about the statue and so on in English but one can still appreciate the wonders on display without it. Definitely go if you're in the area, its an unmissable day trip.

“Size Matters !!”
Reviewed 11 January 2014

Well we were taken by our chinese friend in his car , so can't comment on how to get here or how much is the fee to enter. To make things worse we had visited on a really crowded day , so the drive up the mountain top took pretty much around 2 hours. But the scenery was excellent and finally when we did get to the top where the sheer size of the statue took our breath away, it made it all worth while. There seemed to be tons of activity all the way , but since we did make it to the top pretty late , we could not explore much. Visit it early in the day and choose a normal week day and Iam sure you will have a great time here. I guess the best way is to have a chinese friend with a car as well.

“Great Statue”
Reviewed 19 December 2013

Massive statue! Couldn't believe the size of it.

Drove up there with Chinese friends so can't comment on taxis, hassle etc.

Not a lot of English explanation of the statue or park though!
