Location...
But....not so poz..

A. No mobile precheckin came
B. V slow checkin process (with no Q) and limited english reception gal
C. No concierge or even baggage /door staff in attendance / visible on any of 3 days NOT grand mercure standard!!!!!
D. Given an UG to a suite but found..

1. EMPTY minibar
2. Plastic stirrer not spoon for tea n coffee and paper cups not ceramic. HUH? in a grand mercure suite?!
FINALLY
Elevators BADLY need sorting!!!
Security system isnt active
Ongoing basis ...over 3 days..get into one at lobby..press our floor..not move..go out wait..try a different one. Next time get into the one we used last time...doesnt go this time....bang head on wall...start over
Guys...really!!!!! FIX IT
And...its nice to hv an UG but u need to either FIX THE SWINGING/BANGING DOORS behind the corner suites ( service doors used by staff) and/or TRAIN STAFF TO CLOSE THEM QUIETLY

We didn't stay here but as Accor members, we thought we could dine at the hotel. Unfortunately, restaurants in the hotel were no longer in operation. The hotel only served breakfast. This is rather sad and unexpected.

Great bed (especially if you spent some days in Chinese hotels where normally the beds are hard) good (non smoking) room (1905) decent breakfast. busy street with local streetfood, huge mall under the ground just steps away from the hotel (where the metro is) Also a vey nice bar/restaurant Laohualou in the basement of the hotel (P1 button) with some live music and very friendly staff (thank you google translator for the help) Going to the island in the river with Mao Zhedong huge head sculpture is only 5 minutes by metro so from hotel to there in less than 20 minutes. Bottom line, maybe not the best hotel in Changsha, but very convenient spot to spend some free hours when your Chinese importers don´t have you ¨kidnapped¨.

Just finished a 3 night stay at this hotel and was left completely disappointed. I would avoid this hotel and would have checked out earlier would it not have been that this was the only Accor hotel nearby and I am re-qualifying for platinum status.

Warnings/cons:
1. False advertising - hotel mentioned that the executive lounge was to be renovated till September on their website - its now late October and it still wasn’t done. They brought some cookies and sandwiches to my room each day but it was low quality. No alcoholic beverages were normally provided.
2. No Room Service - again false advertising since their website says 24 hour food; I couldn’t even order some room service; this is a 5 star hotel mind you! I was told ‘there are plenty of restaurants around’ which is really not acceptable for a hotel of this brand/stars.
3. The breakfast is terrible - this is not ‘Grand Mercure’ standard; staff never proactively asked if I wanted coffee, eggs were limited, quality of food was depressing. All three mornings I ate croissants and fruit only.
4. The rooms are much too hot, A/C not working - I was switched rooms since I complained that 24-25 degrees is too warm for me; new room didn’t help much but I can tell that staff couldn’t do more; they suggested ‘to bring a fan’ but seriously this is a 5* hotel…
5. No bars/restaurants in the evening - the only ‘restaurant’ closes at 9 pm and there are no lounge/bars to relax, have a drink and get some work done. This is pretty standard for premium hotels. The minibar was also not stocked properly.
6. English level is not up to standards - no staff could really speak good English; but having lived in China this is not too ‘strange’ and if there weren’t so many other issues I could avoid this

Pros:
1. Staff seems to try their best, but are not really qualified to run a western china hotel in my opinion
2. Internet actually works quite fast and easily - perhaps the only great thing about this hotel; I could do my work easily
3. Decent Gym - the gym is independent but has good machinery; the bad part is that it doesn’t offer any free water or towels for hotel guests - I find that a bit ‘cheap’ for a 5* hotel.

At ~900-1,000 RMB/night there are plenty of better options in Changsha. Until they finish their likely renovation of facilities I suggest they put a BIG disclaimer on their website, lower their prices and align expectations with their guests.

We stayed in Room 2104 three nights from
17.10.18. The staff were friendly and helpful particularly Rolf Zhao (赵明). He knew we went for a day tour. It was raining at the time when we returned. Before we arrived, he WeChat me he would come out with umbrella to meet us at the bus stop. The room was spacious and quite clean but too old and not properly designed. The room light was too dim. Our TV broke down in our second night stay. On our second night, there was no hot water supply for bath too. I still needed to bathe and wash my hair even there was no hot water. After bath, I caught a cold. The breakfast was just average though the service was very good. The hotel had no restaurant. I only knew it when we went there for dinner tonight. Had we known it, we would not booked this hotel. The entrance to this hotel was horrible, at the rear of a very narrow back lane. However its location was quite good, just five minutes to Wuyi Square Subway, about 25 minutes away from Changsha High Speed Train South Station. It is too expensive for RM650-00 a night for a room in this kind of hotel. Its lobby was very small. There were only two receptionists on duty, one for the priority guests. There was no air-conditioning in the room, only fan. We were really not used to it especially at this time Changsha was quite hot. This hotel was certainly over rated. For the reasons above, I will only give it a 7.9.
