This is one of the best "Chinese-style" hotels I have stayed in. The hotel is built around an old garden and there is actually a heritage plaque on the front gate. Rooms are clean, comfortable and a little more stylish that your average Chinese hotel room. The hotel staff have the rare combination of being friendly, efficient and knowledgeable.
From the hotel, it takes five minutes to stroll to the East Gate and its ancient walking street.. This is a lively interesting area to explore with many shops and some small temples along the street. On a sunny spring weekend, there were ancient reenactments and dragon dances taking place at the East Gate. Further afield, it is a 30 minute walk from the hotel to Slender West Lake.
The hotel is directly opposite a new shopping center which has a lovely Gloria Jeans Coffee (outdoor balcony), Ajisen Ramen, Dairy Queen and foot massage after all that walking.
This hotel is fantastic value for money if you are looking for a mid-price, Chinese-style hotel. Next time I plan to stay longer and read a book in one of the pavilions of the lovely garden.More
