This hotel is located at the foot of the zugspitze range within walking distance of cable cars and right on some of the most spectacular hiking trails. This is a big hotel, 3 buildings lots of rooms and on first arrival I thought it would be crowded and impersonal. How wrong I was, The hotel absorbs the guests so it never seems busy and the staff are so well organised everything runs like clockwork. I asked for single use of a double room and paid about 85euros (£75 ish) with breakfast included. The room was large with sliding french window and balcony. It was in the accomadation building across from the hotel so very very quiet. Most rooms will have a good mountain view. Bathroom very good and large flatscreen TV. No English channel though. In the basement is the massive wellness area and pool 6 sauna/steam rooms with relaxation areas and a bar where meals can be taken. It's linked by a passage to the hotel so in bad weather you can move between all without going outside. Robe and slippers are 8 euro for your whole stay and you keep the slippers. Outside is a sunbathing area and some fixed table tennis tables and large garden chess set. There is ample parking at the hotel and it is free. There is on street parking nearby. I didn't use the underground garage but saw it was free with booking.com or so it said on my e-mail. The alpbus stops outside the hotel and runs garmish-hammersbach-eibsee (zugspitze cable car) and back. About every hour or more. Travel is free on this bus with your tourist card that the hotel provide. You just show it to the driver each time you get on - simples. There is an under used internet desktop in the lobby or there is free wifi in the lobby, you get the code from reception. No free internet in the room. Cabled internet is available but it is expensive. I think that needs to change as many hotels in the area offer free room internet. Breakfast - spectacular ! Free seating but no problems as the plenty of tables - probably never saw it a third full. Hot dishes, omlettes to order or ready made, sausages, bacon, pancakes, breads and cold meats as well as fruit, cereal , coffee tea etc. I haven't seen a breakfast like it. I did eat one evening meal there. All you can eat for about £17 food was excellent with choice of 4 or 5 main dishes, drinks extra. Coffee 2.8 euros. The staff were attentive and helpfull . Pleasure to give them a good review- can't think how they aren't top in the area. I would offer free internet. Balcony's are lit till 22 or 2300hrs which you can't switch off. light pollution and attracts insects. Internet in rooms, free please. English channel on TV.
