While traveling thru Europe we needed a stopping place on our road trip and found this great hotel. We even invited a friend from Frankfurt to meets us and he could not believe we found this place. First off it is seemingly in the middle of nowhere and even a local Germany was confused as to how 2 Americans could have ended up here. The Service, Rooms, staff, Buffet and Bar were great. Everyone was very helpful and eager to please. While we only stayed 2 nights I wished it had been longer. Hopefully we will make out way back to this quaint town again.
BTW take a long stroll down the tunnel hallways as there is so much great historical information down there.

My husband and I traveled with our 2 month old and we enjoyed our stay. Free and convenient parking. There was no issue checking in early. A crib with linens was setup in our room. We were placed in a peaceful area of the hotel. Breakfast was fantastic! The only down side is that the tasty pancakes we enjoyed was only out on the buffet our first morning. Each morning after that we looked for them but could not find them. :) Can't complain about a thing!

We have been guests in this house more than one time. We like where it is situated, we like that there are some wellness amenities available and we like (most of) the rooms. We spent quite some hours in the under ground pool and went from there to get some massages. Everything is close by. To spent a nice evening in one of the for restaurants is also possible.

I would like to give five stars, but there is always a little something, which causes a little dent in the overall enjoyment. Last time it have been some overstressed people in the service area, this time we got our Grainau cards at the evening before our leave. They could have saved us quite some money riding up the Zugspitze and on other sightseeing projects.

Maybe next time its worth five stars. We will give it another chance.

Truly excellent hotel. Just step out of the hotel, 50m to the shuttle train and 4mins to the ski lift. You can hire skis in the hotel and buy you one day pass. The hotel rooms are generous size even our economy room was very comfortable - no tripping over the cases. The hotel is spotless everywhere. Really good swimming pool heated to 30degrees. Restaurants are traditional Bavarian but with vegetarian options. You need to book the hut restaurant where there are a few extra options.

For European skiers consider this option. Large Beer is around €4, large soup or fries €2.5 and a meal €12-16 all prices on the slopes. Garmish is a short ride away on the same train that takes you to the ski slopes. Pretty town with restaurants and shops and beautiful traditional buildings.

We flew to Innsbruck with a taxi costing €120 one way taking about an hour. We could have taken the train which would have been much cheaper for a party of two.

Skiing is good but not extensive. Good ski school and facilities for kids. However majority of skiing is reds. Blacks were more like reds too. Resort was quiet right upto the Christmas weekend.

All round excellent

We stayed here 1 night and loved our large, comfortable room. We used the spa for massages and enjoyed the pool that had a variety of exercise machines in the water. I could have spent hours in there. The breakfast was yummy with lots of variety. We used room service for dinner and while there was some confusion about our order - we loved what was delivered. We also took advantage of the complimentary robes.

The walking trails were well maintained and easy to walk.

Room Tip: We stayed in a large room in the main building on the second floor. We used an underground walkway...

This hotel is located at the foot of the zugspitze range within walking distance of cable cars and right on some of the most spectacular hiking trails. This is a big hotel, 3 buildings lots of rooms and on first arrival I thought it would be crowded and impersonal. How wrong I was, The hotel absorbs the guests so it never seems busy and the staff are so well organised everything runs like clockwork. I asked for single use of a double room and paid about 85euros (£75 ish) with breakfast included. The room was large with sliding french window and balcony. It was in the accomadation building across from the hotel so very very quiet. Most rooms will have a good mountain view. Bathroom very good and large flatscreen TV. No English channel though. In the basement is the massive wellness area and pool 6 sauna/steam rooms with relaxation areas and a bar where meals can be taken. It's linked by a passage to the hotel so in bad weather you can move between all without going outside. Robe and slippers are 8 euro for your whole stay and you keep the slippers. Outside is a sunbathing area and some fixed table tennis tables and large garden chess set. There is ample parking at the hotel and it is free. There is on street parking nearby. I didn't use the underground garage but saw it was free with booking.com or so it said on my e-mail. The alpbus stops outside the hotel and runs garmish-hammersbach-eibsee (zugspitze cable car) and back. About every hour or more. Travel is free on this bus with your tourist card that the hotel provide. You just show it to the driver each time you get on - simples. There is an under used internet desktop in the lobby or there is free wifi in the lobby, you get the code from reception. No free internet in the room. Cabled internet is available but it is expensive. I think that needs to change as many hotels in the area offer free room internet. Breakfast - spectacular ! Free seating but no problems as the plenty of tables - probably never saw it a third full. Hot dishes, omlettes to order or ready made, sausages, bacon, pancakes, breads and cold meats as well as fruit, cereal , coffee tea etc. I haven't seen a breakfast like it. I did eat one evening meal there. All you can eat for about £17 food was excellent with choice of 4 or 5 main dishes, drinks extra. Coffee 2.8 euros. The staff were attentive and helpfull . Pleasure to give them a good review- can't think how they aren't top in the area. I would offer free internet. Balcony's are lit till 22 or 2300hrs which you can't switch off. light pollution and attracts insects. Internet in rooms, free please. English channel on TV.

Room Tip: Upper floor with balcony facing Zugspitze will be best.

This is our second time at the hotel and we are coming back in the winter. Do I need to go on? The location is ideal at the foot of the alps grab a bike or hiking gear and enjoy the climb, then come back and relax at the spa or just at the beautiful pool. The food is good while pricey. The staff is awesome. Georgy, Annika and Eileen thanks for your guidance. See you soon.
