We loved our week at this very well-appointed semi-rural villa in the south-east of Crete.
A short drive to multiple small shops and restaurants along the coast road, and a small cafe/snack bar at the bottom of the track at the small apartment complex where the very efficient management team look after this and a couple of other villas.
All the bedrooms were very comfortable, with balconies and excellent bathrooms, and the villa had really good insect screens on all the external doors.
The outside space was great, with several well-equipped seating areas and loads of extra chairs to move into your preferred spot in the sun/shade/breeze.
We did drive our rental car very slowly up and down the unmade access road as it's quite stony, but had no problems.
Very much hope to be back, to explore the region properly rather than (mostly) lying in the sun!
We have just spent 2 weeks in Villa Estia and had a wonderful time. The house is immaculate and has everything you could possibly need. The team who manage the property in Crete were extremely friendly and helpful when we had any questions or problems (2 flat tyres). The house is very private and the pool was a great hit. We were a party of four but the house is large enough for twice as many people with plenty of room for everyone. I would thoroughly recommend a holiday here and we would be more than happy to go again.
We enjoyed a great week in this villa. It's well equipped to ensure great dinners and breakfasts in a group of up to 10. The outside dining table and lounge set, sunbeds and pool were enjoyed the whole week, even near end of october. The near village is a rustic seaview boulevard full of terraces and lovely food.
Upstairs 2 spacious master bedrooms with own spacious bathrooms, room with very solid bunks and a twin bedroom and for their use another smaller bathroom. The other 2 guests sleep on the sofabed, which honestly lacks a little comfort and some privacy (even with rotan roomdeviders available), wardrobespace and bathroom. We used this sofabed 6 nights and that was a little too long...rather to be used for the kids. ..the villa is located in a quiet area, the last part leading from the mainroad to the villa is no asphalt road and a little steep, not lit at nighttime.
The villa is very well equipped with towels, bathtowels and even large sunbed towels, glassware and plastics for use outside and around the pool. Lots of cupboard space in the kitchen, microwave, oven etc etc. Even 2 dishwashers and a washingmachine. Owners ask users to make sure stock of washing tabs, dishwashertabs and handsoap are restocked, therefore first needs are in the villa. Communication was very friendly, prompt and thorough.
All together we surely recommend this villa!!!
What an amazing villa. Comfortably fitted 10 with lots of sun beds, umbrellas, chairs etc... The pool was perfect for the children and little touches like inflatables and noodles made all the difference. The spacious and well appointed kitchen with a sizeable outside BBQ made meal times easy to manage and the downstairs terraces worked as good stages for the younger children 'shows!'
Very quiet location on a hillside and so we were glad to have cars to zip to the supermarket or the nearby beaches. Wide choice of good quality local restaurants and we found everyone very friendly and helpful. Would fully recommend.
We have just returned from a weeks visit to Villa Estia. Holidaying as a family of 8. Ranging in ages from late teens to late 70's. I can not recommend this property highly enough. Its rural location provides a peaceful get away for all the family but you will find ample bars & restaurants less than a ten min drive away, also here you can find water sports, banana boats etc that the teenagers want. We even found a restaurant to deliver us take away if you don't feel like leaving the pool surround or cooking!
The out door space is fantastic - with plenty of seating for both day time & evening socializing. And if you want some quite time away from the group! There is even a roof terrace which is perfect for star gazing. Look out for shooting stars.....
The inside of the villa is so well equipped, ample comfy sofas (although in August we hardly used this space as nice to be outside in the warm evenings), the kitchen has everything (& more) your kitchen at home has.
The beds were comfy, the rooms all lovely with air conditioning throughout the property. 2 bonuses (if you are used to holidaying in Greece) the toilet paper can go down the loo & the shower heads are attached to the wall! :)
The approach road is a little uneven but take it slowly its fine. The drive from Heraklion airport takes 2 hours and is a good road and a straight forward journey.
Not forgetting the lovely pool, spent a lot of time floating on a lilo (provided) to keep cool!
Just returned from a two week stay at this superb villa! The most comfortable beds we have ever slept in! There is not a single item missing from the kitchen and lots of cook books to make fabulous meals. Totally private but only a short walk to a lovely cafe/bar, and 10 minute walk to a beautiful empty beach! Who could ask for more? Many authentic Tavernas all within a 5 min drive. Didn't have one bad meal. Cannot recommend enough!
Everything in this accommodation is of the highest quality. For those who want to cook, the kitchen is beautifully equipped - my mother in law, who is a chef, was delighted with the knives! The bedrooms provide a good range of sleeping arrangements - we stayed in the master bedroom - complete with own balcony! The pool area is exceptional and so much space - even with seven people, there was always a quiet spot away from everyone else if you needed it! The barbecue was also put to good use. Any problems we had (such as broken kettle) were dealt with swiftly. As other reviews have mentioned, a car is an absolute necessity as the nearest town is a good ten minutes drive away (not something you would attempt to walk in the height of summer). Be prepared for a bumpy ride on the approach road which is not yet properly surfaced. It can be quite punishing on the suspension of your car.
As you can see, I am struggling to mention anything negative. This really was the trip of a lifetime and we all enjoyed our stay very much.
