“Amazing and great swimming hole”
Reviewed 21 May 2014

This place is beautiful. I went in swim trunks, hoping to find something to jump off of, and found it was excellent swimming. Seriously, if you're comfortable swimming in the ocean, this place is an unbeatable experience: you can swim in and out of hidden grottoes, and the water is very gentle if there isn't a lot of wind (despite the somewhat monstrous sound the water makes deep within the caves).

Like any beautiful destination, Greece has a lot of photo ops. If this is something you're spending your time doing on your trip to Milos, I recommend coming here and spending time taking portraits among the formations: my girlfriend dressed up in a nice simple black dress and, frankly, these were the best photos of the trip.

Another cool thing: there are caves from smugglers and pirates in the rock that you can explore. Yes, that sounds fantastical, but I don't think we were sold a fake history on that.

So yeah, this place is a dream. Check it out.

“My favorite place in Milos”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

I spent hours walking around and sitting in Sarakiniko. It was really lucky I traveled before the season truly started as I was completely alone there and had the place to myself.
It's like something out of a movie, I've never seen any place like it. The white rocks washed in the sunlight and the light blue colors of the sea were a perfect match.
After walking and discovering all the hidden wonders of the beach, I sat there for a long time writing. It was true serenity.

Don't miss this place in your visit to Milos, and best to make it there off-season when you can enjoy the silence and the sounds of the sea kissing the shore.

“Unlike anywhere else”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

The unusual wind sculpted pumice formations of Sarakiniko are apparently the most photographed area in the Aegean. Its surprisingly firm underfoot because it looks like a giant white sand dune but its actually rock which lets you clamber over the whole place fairly easily.

The sandy part of the beach is not that big or particularly pleasant but it gives access to the man made tunnels. Theres also bridges created by sea erosion and columns created by wind erosion.

Whether you vsiit for a quick wander around the formations or stop for a longer exploration may depend on the weather. The white stone reflects the sun and even in May it was warm. In the height of summer I'd imagine its unbearable. Whatever you decide don't forget your camera.
