The location is perfect as mentioned in the title, close to the port where the ferries depart to Aegadian Islands, there is a bus stop for airport express busses very close to the hostel. The owner of the hostel, Antonio, is very friendly and the rooms(we stayed in a 4-person room) are very comfortable for an hostel room.
On the other hand there is no breakfast(at least for 4 person rooms) and they use disposable bed linens and blanket sheets(which might be eco-friendly in this case, but definetely not comfortable).

We stayed there for a night in the beginning our Sicily trip and then (without considering any other options in Trapani) we booked another night for our last day in Sicily.
(an extra tip: There is an excellent Gelateria when you turn left at the main street, a must go place)

I had a good time in Almaran BB. Antonio was very friendly and helpful. He answered my questions and told me the best places to go. I had a private room for a good price and everything was very clean. The BB is located next to the port, so it's perfect to go to the Islands by boat or to see the sunset. Thanks for everything, I really enjoyed it!

What does the traveller crave above the tourist? Authenticity, to be part of the normal life of a city,to be part of its people .
I got close to that in Trapani ,Sicily. I had wanted to be on the seafront by the boats and ferries,
but also to experience the back streets , where people actually lived . Almaran B& B offered all that with a sense of a home, with freedom to come and go.
We ate breakfast a few steps away at a seafront Café Staitii with bellezze barriste,great coffee and beautifully baked pastries and, my wife’s favourite, spremute, an orange freshly juiced. In our street each morning we had a fruit seller with a barrow calling out his selection and the chatter of children going to school. Sleek modern ferries and cruise ships were visible from our window and my son had a balcony to hang his washed socks on!
The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean . Ours had painted ornate baroque wooden furniture but or son’s was more modern décor with French windows leading on to his balcony .
Our host was more than helpful and knowledgeable about restaurants and transport . Of course we did the sights. Erice, the Elymian town on its rocky hill behind Trapani with breathtaking views. Go in the afternoon on a sunny day and it is a mysterious atmospheric marvel as the light changes and a sea mist comes in with the dusk. No wonder the ancients chose this magical place for their temple to Venus.
And at Segesta , a short bus ride from Trapani, is one of the most complete Greek temples in the world in a magnificent setting nestling amongst hills of pine and maquis vegetation. Huge agaves lined the temple path and near the temple itself wild rosemary bushes in bloom attracted black bees. For a Scot who had left a cold wet October autumn behind this was a delight.
From the temple you then walk to the nearby hilltop remains of the Elymyian town of Segesta , with its almost intact Greek theatre. All the way up the hill were herbs in bloom and fruiting bushes such as bright blue sloes and blood red hawthorn berries.
Back in Trapani itself we took delight in La Marguerita, a garden of exotic trees such as ancient canopied strangler figs, flowering kapok trees and a stately araucaria and sat on the beautiful beach that stretches along the north of the peninsula.
But the surprise was the people. Used to the less friendly northern Italians , Sicilians in contrast were friendly and chatty, tolerant of our not so perfect Italian.

I stood in Almaran B&B this summer for one night with my girlfriend:

++:
* The room was awesome, big, clean, the bed was very confortable, AC, very classy, elegant! Exceptionnal!
* The location is in the port of Trapani, near the beach and in a very calm neirborhood
* The price is ok
* The restaurant in front is good
--:
* The breakfast was not included so the name "Almaran B&B" can be misleading
* Antonio was kind but I have seen better hosting. He almost made us miss our bus! We waited for him for almost 2 hours to get our luggaged back the day we left.

We wanted to go to Trapani to enjoy the beaches. Almaran B&B was in a perfect location for that. The room was also really beautiful and clean. Internet was included. The welcoming was just good,nothing specific to say about it. Yet, there was an Internet Cafe very close to it, on the steet in front of the port,where the personel was amaizingly friendly and gave good advise. Almaran B&B does not propose breakfast so you can go to the Internet Cafe to have a real italian breakfast and speak with locals.

A proper hotel room for a B&B price. Ideal location (1 minute walk from the city centre but out of the crowd and noise), good facilities and a kind and helpful owner. Trapani is a great place to stay due to its location (pay visits to the Aegadian Islands, Marsala, San Vito lo Capo, Erice, Marsala, Segesta). The owner lives downstairs the rooms and is willing to give travel advise.

We stayed at Almaran for 4 nights in June 2012. Our ensuite double room was very clean and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the port. It is centrally located in the historic part of Trapani with easy access for discovering both the old and new . Just across the road from the port and Segesta bus stop makes it easy to visit the Egadi Islands or take a bus for the 2 hour trip to Palermo. Buses to and from the Airport stop here. Antonio speaks very good English and is very friendly and helpful with regards to excursions and restaurants. I absolutely recommend Almaran B&B if you are looking for good value for money, clean and central lodging. Will definitely stay there again. Marlene Lanzon, San Gwann Malta.
