“Not a family holiday!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2014

We have recently got back from what first choice/ Thomson classes as a "family holiday", on arrival to the hotel, it exceeded our expectations, although the outside does not look that pretty, it is very modern and clean inside and the facilities around the pool are fab. We 2adults and an 8month baby enjoyed the pool -although it was cold! And the kid pool and facilities was brilliant, slides, pirate ship and pool ball etc. the restaurant was good, different choices every evening but was hit and miss, to whether we liked it but they do try cater for everyone, the staff we're friendly and caring towards their customers.

The hotel and staff was not the problem for us on the hotel and we could not complain, however, it is not a family holiday, while we was there we had to see the first choice resort rep (who was brilliant) because we didn't feel we paid for what we got, we paid for a family holiday in a nice quiet hotel made for families, we expect noise on holiday and know that nothing is completely quiet but when we got there, there was hardly any families and loads of young teenage Germans!

This wasn't a problem to start with however as the week went on there was more and more of them coming for a party holiday, the resort rep informed us that however first choice sell this hotel as a family holiday other tour operators sell it as an 18-30s holiday, explaining the young Germans looking to party!!

So I'd advise anyone who looks at this hotel to think about this before booking as it did spoil our holiday, we didn't feel we could sit in the bar because they wasn't respectful to the families at the hotel, chanting loudly, pushing kids over and not saying sorry and just being rude! They do not know how to Que for food and drinks etc. one night they was chanting that loudly we could hear them from the bedroom which was situated on the 3rd floor and the chanting would go on to early hours, I know holidays are supposed to be fun for everyone but as a family we did not enjoy this holiday, and would not go back or even book with first choice again after they falsely advertised the hotel as a family hotel!!

Have just returned after having 11 nights all inclusive here. I have very mixed opinions on this place and although i personally had a good holiday and everyone in my party did (there was 14 of us in total) i feel the fact we had a good time was down to us making it so.

The Room - we had a third floor room which was overlooking the main pool. The view was very nice so recommend if you book this place ask for a room overlooking the main pool. The room itself was extremely clean, cleaned daily and new towels provided daily too although the sheets were not changed daily but bed made, that i didnt quite get understand. There isnt alot of space in the room itself as you have two double beds in it but you have a big built in wardrobe, full length mirror and a kind of dresser (not really sure what it was meant to be), a wall mounted tv and bedside tables so basically a very well functioning room. The bathroom was very nice with one of the best walk in showers i have ever had!!. Balcony was a good size to with a table and two chairs on it. It is my understanding after speaking to a couple of people that the fourth floor rooms were not as nice.

The Food - Although the restaurant had a wide range of foods available I have to say the quality of the food as only just passable and I am saying that only because none of us got ill through the food. If your after good quality tasty food then am afraid to say the hotel restaurant is not for you (as it wasnt for us).

The Staff - I personally found the staff to be very hard working people and friendly enough so have no complaints what so ever there. The hotel has security staff who make their presence known but not in your face and they were very good at getting people to move on at the end of the night without turning into ogres. The entertainment people i thought done a very good job and we had a good laugh with them.

Pool Areas - The childrens pools and water slides most impressed with, had fun on the water slides myself!! The main pool areas very pretty, the pools clean but have to say found the water to be uncomfortably cold even afterr getting shoulders under water and swimming about, this i thought was a huge shame!!. Plenty of sunbeds provided and can hire the mattresses for them for two euros a day.

Location - Hotel is situated about ten minutes walk from the town with all the nightlife. Its an easy walk and quite pleasant (no hills haha). The nightlife is superb, something for everyone. We had a wide age range in our party, youngest being 11yrs to the oldest of 75yrs so I feel it is safe to say Lloret de mar as a town has it all!!

Our Main Problem - At the start of our holiday all was good, the hotel had alot of families in and it was a nice relaxed family orientated atmosphere and then the Germans invaded!! The late teens early twenties wanna party and to hell to anyone else type. Most were of course ok but there was a fair few that were very rude, obnoxious and threatening. No consideration for others, if they was in your way they just would not move and you had to lower yourself to their level and be downright rude to be able to even get to the toilet let alone the bar. It is here that the hotel i feel really need to work on to get it to work well for everyone. Once the youngster Germans invaded you found the families (of all nationalities) would disappear to their rooms alot earlier than they had been because access to the bar was impossible, the constant chanting by them was intimidating and the relaxed fun atmosphere had just gone. Olympic park is a big complex and i feel if they encouraged the party people to a certain area and families to another it would work but the mish mash way it is right now just does not work and the families suffer!! I myself was joustled and named called by a couple of young German lads when all I was trying to do was to go to the toilet, this of course annoyed my husband and two sons so the situation could have got quite nasty.

Basically a holiday is what you make of it. My honest opinion of the place is there is potential for it to be fantastic, they just are not there yet!! A bit of good management and looking into the best way to cater for all then they have a winner!!

Room Tip: Ask for main pool view room and check that the room has been recently renovated

just returned yesterday (10-06-14), where can I start, the staff are very rude to English customers, bar staff gave a 10 year old vodka and coke when he asked for a lemonade, Food is OK but can get repetitive, they put families amongst 18-30s club lot so noisy when the clubs kick out, did not have our bed sheets or towels cleaned for 4 days, found a lot of bugs crawling around the room families were getting sexually harassed by other guest, first choice rep was superb. evening entertainment was OK but only just starting to kick in now as season has now started, also I paid for a double room thinking i was going to have a double bed but had 3 singles instead I did complain but receptions answer was you will have to put up with it,
over all I would not recommend and will not be going back.

Room Tip: rooms are quieter on the side with the lifts and ask for a pool view as the road view looks like a d...

Family of 4 2 adults and 2 children age 8 and 5! Great value for money, we booked all inclusive including unlimited access to the Water World which is only a 10 minute walk away and the kids and big kids ;-) enjoyed this a lot. The hotel itself was superb, we had a family room which was a bit tight but its only to sleep in so we were not bothered by it, plenty of towels, toiletries etc, cleaned daily by very friendly staff. We had a balcony overlooking the new kids pool area, 3 pools this side including kiddies play pool with pirate ship and small slides etc a main pool in the middle then larger water slides at the end, also a snack bar runs throughout the day outside too serving drinks and food. Other side of hotel has another pool which is what we used the most as it was less busy, the kiddies enjoyed the pool but loved the kids mini club that is run by lovely staff and have lots of activities and a soft indoor play area, they also loved the hotel mascot Joe the bull. The bar area is lovely with a stage and dance floor and very friendly bar staff, they put on different shows each evening which were very good. The restaurant was very welcoming and plenty of choice, helpful staff always smiling, food was lovely! Beach is a pleasant walk about 15 minutes and there are some lovely shops along the way, we also enjoyed a trip on the glass bottom boat and also booked the trip to Marine land which is another water park but also has the Dolphin shows, bird shows and sea lion shows which were fantastic. The only thing I have to complain about is the cups of tea are awful, I recommend bringing your own tea bags if you are a tea drinker. Kept very clean throughout and improvements being made all the time, a new indoor pool is going in also. Will definitely book again in the future. You can hear noise from the corridor's but its not something that really bothered us at all.

After reading some of the reviews before we went, I was a little concerned.. thankfully I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived.. the rooms were comfortable and clean (thin walls, but we slept fine), the staff were friendly and helpful, the pools and slides were great everywhere was kept clean and tidy, food was edible and plenty of variety, the water park was a bit of a random walk but worth it, the beach and shops were close enough by, with a free beach bus running every 10 minutes from 10-12 and 4-6. overall a good holiday would recommend.
