“A pleasant stay in a quieter area of Lloret De Mar”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

Just back from a 10 night break in Costa Encantada. We were on the 4th floor of Block A room 411 and it is a little dated (in need of a revamp) for a 4 star resort. I am sure there are nicer rooms available. The rooms were clean with a lovely flat screen TV, fridge freezer, cooker, hob, microwave & toaster.

We were situated at the front of the building overlooking the kids play area. My main gripe really with the room is that we could not enjoy our balcony space due to a faulty light flashing like a disco. We reported this to reception 4 times & it wasn't fixed. We were told it was on a timer & connected to the other lights so hard to fix. We were unable to turn the light off at night either. Such a shame really as it was the only flashing light in the whole section.

We were all inclusive and happy with the food available for each meal during our stay. However, they decided to allocate seating 2 for dinner which is at 8:45pm, which is way too late for a family to dine especially with a 4 year old. We approached reception and asked to be changed to 7:30 sitting & this was not a problem.

There are taxes due when you check in & we had to pay €13, so just be aware of that.

As stated in a previous post one of the bar men is very adamant that each person get 1 drink each at a time, this means as husband & wife we were expected to take turns to get our own drink rather than get for each other which seemed a bit silly if one of us was tending to our daughter at the park etc. Angel was very rude to us at one stage making a scene over getting 2 drinks that I felt I needed to tell him he was very rude to his face. I was fed up of him after 5/6 days.

The area around the hotel is lovely, Fenals beach fantastic & Sa Boadella beach a bit further away is pure paradise. A visit to Jardins De Coltilde a must & if you have little ones, Gnomo Park is fun for a few hours.

Lloret Centre is not a nice place to visit in the evening with children, a lot of police presence & we got an unsafe feeling around the place. We would definitely never stay in the centre of town.

The shops on the way to the beach (Fenals) are crying out for business so if you decide to shop for a few items they are cheaper than the town centre.

All in all a lovely stay but it's doubtful we would return to this hotel again as the all inclusive customers are really treated like 2nd class citizens at the bar especially.

Indoor pool great, pool area lovely too. Plenty of activities & the Animation Team are lovely.

Evening entertainment good if a little repetitive for kids but the shows after the disco can be great. Especially the Eclipse show, the lady with the hoola hoops was fantastic.

I hope this helps & sorry for such a long post.

During May half term, I visited the hotel with 3 friends for 4 nights. We were presently surprised with the hotel and it's facilities, the pool & overall cleanliness!

One evening, we heard a bang in the living room & our phone charger had exploded out the wall & the burnt the table. We rang reception immediately who sent a maintenance man to check out the electrics. He simply came in shrugged his shoulders and left. Feeling scared to use the other sockets, we spoke to the lady on reception whose only response was 'well what do you want me to do?' and blamed it on us. This is not how you expect to be spoken to and whilst I understand it was not the easiest situation to deal with, a sorry would not have hurt! We brought the situation to the attention of the hotel director the following morning, who was very apologetic & called for the head electrician to check our apartment.

Unfortunately, the friendliness & help from the Director was undermined by other members of staff (in the restaurant) who seemed to lack communication skills!

Despite this, if I was to return to Lloret de Mar, I would definitely stay in the Costa Encantada with the room, pool, shop and lobby all being fantastic!

Can't fault anything about our stay here...Kids had a fab time...weather wasnt the greatest...but hotel was fab...great food...great pools, Kids loved the evening entertainment. Being fully Inclusive saved us so much money..5 minute walk to a fab beach...we will no doubt be back very soon. Staff were brilliant. Only thing i would say is one of the barman gets grumpy if you ask for more than one drink as its supposed to be 1 drink per person...

I stayed here with my husband and 3 kids 8 year old and a 13 year and could not fault this hotel at all. Loved it from start to finish. Rooms very clean, lovely maids, food lovely, entertainment good. There's a few shops and pubs in the local town but a 10 min walk takes you into the main town of lloret and the big beach in the man town is amazing. There's a supermarket 5 mins away from the hotel. I did find the beds abit hard and the walls are paper thin buy hay ho did not spoil are holiday. The oven and toaster did not work but they were quick to get them fixed. I would definitely recommend this hotel. P.s over 16 year olds have to pay local government tax at 1 euro a night per person when you arrive at check in at the hotel. Hope you enjoy it as much as our family :)

The bus journey from Barcelona to Lloret had us pass and stop at some run-down towns and Hotels. So the first sight of the Costa Encantada and the surrounding area made us very pleased with our destination choice. All clean and not run-down like so many places on the journey in. Close enough to the action to not be out of the way - but not as far away as to be a pain. Perfect !

Not the Hotels fault - but a slight 'faux-pas' on the Transfers meant we rocked up to the Hotels reception at 3am. All looked pretty pleasant as we entered and walked to the desk. Upon booking in; about the first thing we were told is "...we owed 20 Euros for local Tax". I cant believe no-one has mentioned this as everyone i saw was having to pay..........

Anyway. Room was fantastic. As good as ive had on a 'cheap' family holiday. VERY spacious, very clean, seperate bedroom, lounge, toilet and kitchen with a double balcony on the outside. Spotlessly clean and the cleaners came in every day too. Only gripe being they didnt ever seem to sweep the floor and there was no brush and dust-pan supplied. And although they made the beds everyday - im not so sure the sheets wern't changed in the 12 nights we stayed. We even ripped everything off the beds and threw the lot onto the floor one day - only to find those same sheets back on the bed when we returned to our room !

Staff in general were excellent and as mentioned Gail on reception is helpful.

Food: Seemed to be getting worse during our 12 night stay (17th - 29th May 14) if im honest. Was never dire, but as the Hotel was clearly getting busier the quailty and choice got worse. As was the same stuff (Leftovers) appearing in another form in later days as time went on..... To me when the Hotel was quieter at the start of our Holiday, the food was considerably better than it was at the end when the Hotel was geting really full and obviously busy.

Breakfast for me was ALWAYS the best meal of the day and was always very good, but as i say nothing was dire, but then again it wasnt special by any means. And can anyone tell me why EVERYTHING is served up here stone-bloody-cold ????? (If you like your food anything like warm - expect the microwave in the dining area to get used often !)

Pool area great, football / basketball courts very nice and the amusements for the kids was more than enough.

Lloret itself was a pleasant walk away, and had some nice shops along the back street, although - like the local shops to the Hotel - is spolied by many "Lookey-Lookey" shop owners (Their exact words to us Brits as we passed their shop-fronts,NOT me being racist) .......enticing you in to look at their tat for sale. Think Great Yarmouth sea-front on steroids and you'll be right on the money. Utter rubbish, if not a little embarrasing and uncomfortable if you wern't interested but getting hassled.........

All in all a pretty fair Holiday. Unfortunately ours was spolied a little by poor weather and the fact we couldnt lounge around the pool; meant boredom was the order of the day for our kids as there wasnt a huge amount to do, and the kids club was so poorly advertised - we didnt even realise it existed until we'd nearly left. I didnt expect anyone to come find us, but the times / days etc are right around the corner near the lifts and not easy to spot unless your already actively looking.

There is plenty to do locally with the Nou Camp at Barcelona, Waterpark 5 minutes up the road (Very good and clean and tidy it is too), and various other local attractions and days out. of course.

Would i go back ? Doubtful. Not my style to go to the same place twice. But this is certainly a nice place, very clean and tidy and you wont go hungry or thirsty on the all inclusive package.

With a little more thought, attention to detail and things to do at the Hotel if the weather isnt so great - this could really be quite a special family resort.

Stayed in this hotel for my partners 40th birthday for a week on May 13th. We were very impressed for what we got for the money we paid (not a lot)
By far the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in, lovely big spacious apartments, big balcony over looking pool, amazing powerful shower. We stayed half board and meals were lovely, breakfast better than dinner, sometimes dinner didn't have a lot of choice as we don't like fish and didn't trust the meat! Drinks were average priced, staff were very helpful and sweet. We shall be returning later in the year with our son for a short break as it seemed very child friendly. Not so sure on the area itself, we got a bit bored but we didn't have very warm weather so couldn't swim or sunbathe. Highly recommended!

Lovely studio room with balcony and kitchenette aswell as separate bedroom. Whole hotel was clean, staff on reception helpful especially Gail from Scotland! Lovely pools outside and not too busy or noisy as well as indoor pool which our little boy loved. We stayed from 8th to 16th May 2014. We were bed and breakfast and the food was great , only thing i would say is if you`re full board or all inclusive, don`t think dinner is served til 8pm so could be difficult with young children, though burgers etc are served at the pool bar most of the day.
