“The Best Break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2013

I have stayed at Breakers many times and I have yet to find anywhere to compare with Breakers for a relaxing break.

Perfectly situated at the Down End part of Croyde, you will find a quiet B & B with plenty of parking, comfortable rooms with en-suite shower rooms, a resident’s lounge outside the bedrooms that has free refreshments, comfortable chairs, games and a wide selection of reading materials, all excellent if you encounter some bad weather. Downstairs there is another lounge with a TV and DVD player available.

Breakfast is served in a separate dining room. Breakfast is a very filling affair and sets me up for the day’s activities, with little need to think about more food until the evening. Most bedrooms give a view of the beach, surf conditions and the wonderful view of Baggy Point.

Owners Jenny and Richard are both friendly and helpful and run the business very much “hands on” and this ensures that the quality of service stays very high.

Down End gives great access to Croyde Beach by crossing the road and walking down steps onto the sand. The bus service to Braunton and Barnstaple stops at the end of Breaker’s driveway.

The distance to Croyde village’s pubs and restaurants is close enough to negate the need to drive the car and perfect for walking off a filling meal.

There are facilities for rinsing and hanging wetsuits if you’ve spent the day in the surf, locally there is horse riding and a good selection of mountain bike rides and walks. There is also hang gliding and paragliding just over the hill on Woolacombe Down.

In summary, a wonderful place to stay, whatever the season and weather.

Really well managed B&B, very accommodating. Decor might be typical of a B&B - i.e it's not a 5* Hotel decor, but the lounges are exceptional for a B&B, really nice choice of quality teas, real milk, massive amount of space. Very clean & A GREAT STAY. Right on the beach with sea views.

Room Tip: THey are all the same.

I've just visited Breakers for the third time and this classy b&b gets better and better. Apart from the stunning surroundings and miles of sandy beaches, the rooms are comfy and spotless and this place offers lots of added extras that you wouldn't usually expect to find in a b&b. These include two comfortable lounges just for guests with free tea and coffee-making facilities, TV/DVD, CD player and free wi-fi. Breakfast includes good filter coffee and the superb full English comes with freshly-laid eggs from their own free-range hens, and home-grown tomatoes. Jenny and Richard are friendly, welcoming hosts with many years of local knowledge as well as expertise on everything to do with the surf. I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in this area.

Room Tip: They are all lovely.

Super views of Croyde Bay and Baggy Point. Clean comfortable accomodation with great upstairs lounge/coffee area to chill after day on beach. Full English breakfast a must. But if not having this limited to cereals/toast could have had some fruit to go with yoghurts.Hosts Jenny and Richard were most pleasant and helpful.

We stayed at Breakers for 4 nights as we were attending a family wedding in the area. We took up all the rooms in the house as there were lots of us. The rooms were all a great size and spotless. We had the use of the living rooms and Jenny and Richard were so accommodating letting us use the dining room and kitchen to feed the children at dinner time. Breakfast was delicious everyday. The location was ideal, across the road from the beach and a short walk into town. We all had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this guesthouse. Thanks to Jenny and Richard for being so welcoming.

We had a great stay at Breakers and went to see the live bands on Saturday . After a cold evening Richard and Jenny offered us a great night in their B&B across the beach from the site. It was comfortable, warm after the cold sea wind and rain, and the breakfast was great with plenty of choice and very friendly and informative hosts . Nothing was too much trouble and the views were fantastic . After a long walk on Sunday we sat in the warmth of the conservatory before heading home. Great value here , we'll definitely be back.

After a day in the water there are few places that offer such a welcome. The rooms are ridiculously comfortable, the facilities are top notch and Jenny and Richard are the most friendly, welcoming couple in the bay. The breakfast is spectacular fueling a morning's surfing in the coldest conditions. Also, both Jenny and Richard are on hand offering valuable advice to 'weekend' surfers. We'll definitely be back!
