“Wonderful farmstay experience”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

Our family of 6 adults + 2 kids stayed at the Cedar glen homestead for 3D2N last month. And we all, especially the kids, really enjoyed it.

We went for the twilight 4 wheel drive tour up the mountains, and it was really a sight to behold. Owner Nigel drove us up, and was very helpful in explaining to us about the area. We were also brought to different area within the estate for picnic lunches on both day. The lost world was particularly nice and serene. All of us tried the horse ride, kids and parents went for the led ride, while other 4 of us went for 1hr trial ride, and we all had fun.

The homestead was nice and clean, and the queen beds had heated blankets. We took the full board package, and enjoyed the food as well. In addition to Nigel and his staff, there were a few ladies on travel holiday helping out at the homestead, and all of them were helpful and friendly too.

A very nice holiday experience overall.

I was keen to try a farm stay to see if my 11 year old girl and 9 year old boy liked it or not. They're city kids with iPad eyes. Well, they absolutely loved it, as did I (their dad).

We went for three days and two nights and did every included and each additional activity. The children loved the animal feeding, horse riding, whip cracking, boomerang throwing lessons, twilight 4WD drive, lunchtime picnics, watering hole swimming and dinner around the 'big table'. The hosts were great. It was like staying with friends. Nigel the owner is founded on four generations on the property and he speaks with heart. His off-sider Natasha was awesome with the children. The accommodation was awesome. We stayed in the 100+ year old homestead and this heritage added to the experience. We also met another great couple with children around the same age which gave parents a break while children played within safe boundaries (allowing me to snooze on the balcony). The farm is a short drive from the Gold Coast and Brisbane. We did the all inclusive package - inclusive of accommodation and three big meals a day. It was a great family experience and one the children and myself will talk about for years. We look forward to returning with friends. Andrew

Plenty of space in the cottage and the fire place made the cold winter stay cozy.

The farm animals were the highlight for me, especially milking the cow!

Great surroundings and comfy cabins. If you're looking for a farm stay in this part of Australia I recommend Cedar Glen.

We've just retuned from our first ever farm stay experience at Cedar Glen.  It was truly wonderful.  We stayed at Stinson Cottage which was so quaint, it was like stepping back in time.   It was also very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. We booked full board and the food was really great especially the picnics.  The activities were great fun too.  We did horse riding, bull whipping, boomerang throwing, fishing and we milked a cow for the first time.  Wonderful weekend.  Nigel could not have done enough for us.  We'll be back

Incredible, one of the favourite places i have ever been. The environment and culture makes the place perfect. I wish I could go back. I don't see how anyone can not give this 5*'s. Also you have to do the whip cracking as it is brilliant fun and it made me feel like a child again.

I selected this farmstay because of the fully catered meals since I am travelling with my husband and 2 kids, and I cannot cook.

I booked 2 rooms at the Homestead and was happy that there were no one else staying there and we had the huge house to ourselves. The dining room is just behind the homestead and is convenient for us.

The rooms in the homestead are aged but clean. When we stayed in mid June, it was very cold at night. There is a heater and electric blanket which kept us warm in bed, but we were freezing when we got out of bed. The door locks were also very old and hard to turn.

Other than these problems, we did enjoy ourselves very much. The surroundings are beautiful, and felt like a very authentic farmstay. We enjoyed all the activities like animal feeding, milking the cow, boomerang and whip, lunch by the creek, as well as horse riding. My kids enjoyed playing with the cat and exploring the "tree house" for the chickens.

Nigel and his family are very easy going and friendly, they took really good care of us. We are from Singapore and are pleasantly surprised to meet 2 other Singaporean families during our stay. I guess this is because it was the June school holidays in Singapore.

For those who are short of time, a one night stay is enough to enjoy all the activities.

We just spent 2 nights in the Dairy Cottage and wished it was for longer. The 11 of us (4 children 7 adults) in one house was great fun. The location is beautiful and the weather was perfect. The animal feeding and milking the cow was a big hit with children and the adults! Exploring the farm and creek was an adventure and hiking up the hill for the view well worth it.
It's an easy drive south of Brisbane for a weekend away or longer if you have the time.
