Gateway Lifestyle Rainbow Waters
Reviewed 28 January 2014

We have just returned from Rainbow Waters after the Australia Day long weekend, and we're already planning our next trip! We were a little nervous after reading previous comments, however experienced none of the issues mentioned in previous reviews. The managers were very welcoming and extremely helpful, the park and amenities were extremely clean, and there is plenty of space for all, so you're not camped on top of each other. It was quite windy during our stay, which kept the midgies and sandflies away, but it certainly didn't spoil our weekend. We have 3 young children, and my husband and I were keen on creating some camping memories for them, as we have from our younger days. The kids had a fantastic time, and made some lovely friends. My son even caught his very first fish!! We had an absolutely lovely time, and our on;y complaint was that it wasn't long enough! Thank you Rainbow Waters, we'll see you again soon!

We camped here australia day weekend 2014 and had a great time. Large spacious areas to set up shop kids ran. The first time campers that were with us had a great time also. Great staff clean facilities. We will be back for sure.

As a professional person I have never been spoken to so rudely as I was by the old guy who seemed to be running the park. He made assumptions about us within 30 seconds of being there and we were told to leave. This is the worst place we have ever been! I have camped for over 40 years and have never been treated or been spoken to so badly. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Bullies come in all shapes and sizes I have discovered. Shame on you Rainbow Waters

In reply to these comments, we have only asked one group of people to leave the park, so we gather that you are part of this group that was asked to leave due to the lack of respect for the noise and speed restrictions. We have already responded to these negative comments on a previous occasion. Again we are a family orientated park and if you give respect, you will receive respect back. Thank you.

I really have to disagree with some of the previous comments with regards to this site and the staff. From the moment I booked to the day we left the manager and other staff were nothing other than professional, helpful and courteous. We rang ahead to say we would be late arrivals and they had no problem with this and left a map of the site showing our booked plot in the key box. The next day we left early for a tour of Fraser Island and arrived back after the office had closed. I was a little concerned because I had only paid for one night (even though we had booked two), I went to the office next morning to apologise and make payment and need not have been worried at all and was again received great customer service.
As for the site ..... It is beautiful! Well maintained, clean, great facilities and wonderful views. It was peaceful at night and great for kids to play. I would stop here again and have no reservations about recommending this site at all.

A (family) group of us camped on powered sites just before Christmas for a long weekend. The park is very clean and tidy and amentiies were immaculate, but dated. The park has a friendly, relaxed, laid-back feel and even though it was a very busy time, it didn't feel crowded.

I found comments about the managers unfounded - they were very professional, courteous and helpful.

The camp kitchen is great. We made use of the pizza oven and had a delicious feast! Plenty of fridge and freezer space.

The fishing was great - plenty of bream and even a good sized mud-crab caught off the banks.

The negatives: there is no pool and the midgies almost carried us away. No insect repellant seemed to stop them - we tried rid, aeroguard and off. My brother-in-law was so coated in bites we had to dose him up with antihistamine. A week later he is still itching and coated in sores. On the last day a lady told us that you need something oil-based as their bites can't penetrate it. Bushman's is about the only repellant that works, or baby oil..

The price is quite expensive for what you get - the same price as the park in town that has a big pool and is central to everything.

It really is alovely park, but due to the lack of pool and those horrible biting insects we wont be back.

Absolutely terrible. Arrived with my mother sisters and partner with a bit of music playing and immediately got told to leave. Manager was very rude and had a terrible attitude. Extremely rude. Apparently we have a life ban for having a bit of music on in the car. Never ever recommending that park to anyone. All the staffs attitude was disgusting. We
Drove ages to get there and were told to leave after paying in full. Don't go there !

Firstly, it was not the Managers that asked you to leave, it was the Owner. You arrived into our park with music thumping and going at a speed well over our limit of 10km/hour. Secondly, when you came into the office to receive your "FULL REFUND" you continued on with your foul language. As we are a family orientated park, your behaviour was not welcome and not appropriate, thus resulting in you and your family being asked to leave.

My partner and I spent two nights camping here during a Fraser Island tour and I must say the actual caravan park was in great condition with great amenities. There was a sheltered outdoor kitchen that included a wood fired pizza oven which would be a great addition for the kids. The bathrooms were even clean and nice! There was waterfront camping if you don't need power which was also a plus. The only downside if the bloody sand fleas nearly killed us! Beware of dawn and dusk cover your legs and close your tent. These little minion were everywhere and devoured my boyfriend. They made their way into our tent on the second night and had a feast of us in our sleep. Unfortunately, they were so bad I doubt we would return, but if you are feeling adventurey and or have a life supply of bug spray then it is a great option for camping!
