“Very disappointed with the welcome ....”
Reviewed 21 October 2013

We arrived at the 'resort' and were directed towards providing credit card details for security. This is a common request at all hotels and we have never been penalised for only having visa debit cards before. She asked if I had even bothered reading the form before signing it, so I thought it best to check it again. This time I noticed a whole swagger of extra costs associated with the room should we not leave it in the same condition as we found it (rubbish taken out, dishes washed etc). This was not a concern but she was obviously concerned that she wouldn't be able to charge us should we choose to steal something (her suggestion was the microwave).

Finally we got the keys and proceeded to the room where we noticed signs indicating extra charges for not taking out our own rubbish, doing the dishes before leaving (even though you have to buy your own dishwashing liquid), using the second bathroom or hanging towels over the verandah.

Overall, the service was really quite rude and the extra charges to take out rubbish is quite ridiculous. This is certainly not a resort! There were no toiletries provided, face washers, tea/coffee or spare blankets. I would not recommend that any of my friends stay here and we certainly won't be next time we come to Rainbow Beach.

Room Tip: I would recommend either the Caravan Park or Plantation Resort (depending on your budget).

Rainbow Getaway is not an hotel. It is selfcontained holiday apartments. We do not service the apartments under a 7 night stay. Therefore you are expected to supply your own shampoo, conditioner etc. We supply a starter kit including washing up detergent. Our contract cleaners are not paid to remove other peoples rubbish. If you stay in a city hotel you will be charged $100 not $15 if you do not remove your rubbish and do your washing up etc. This apartment was a 3brm apartment let as a 1brm at a 1brm price. Therefore only 1 bathroom was to be used. Hence a sign reminding the guest to use just the 1 bathroom. Once again the cleaners charge extra for cleaning a 2nd bathroom.. Never sign anything without reading it first.

Our overall stay with Rainbow Getaway Apartments was fine however my experiences on checkout are extremely disappointing. My wife, two children (18mth and 4 years old) and I stayed for three nights. Watch out for the word “Resort” in their advertising as this is inconsistent with their actual name. By no standard would we call this place a “Resort”. Also watch out for the cleaning fee if you leave a few dishes in the sink despite informing them on checkout that you ran out of dishwashing powder. We will not be returning here.

Consider the great location, close to everything, sleep quality, space and resort facilities, then look at what it cost and you can only smile. So affordable. Management and staff were very professional, had excellent local knowledge and even made an appointment for me at the local hair and beauty salon on a day that I could not participate in planned activities. Had the big 4wd this time and was relieved that we had an adequate garage. We would definitely stay here again and will confidently recommend this place to friends and family.

Great location, everything you need, very friendly & helpful staff, clean, tidy & comfortable & good facilities.
We stayed in a 1 bed apartment for 3 nights & couldn't really fault this accommodation. Bed & pillow was slightly hard but that's just personal preference. Would definitely stay there again for such a good price. Very convenient having it fully self contained. The manager was more than helpful during our whole stay.

This is our second stay here. We have stayed in both the 3 bedroom upstairs apartment and the downstairs one bedroom apartment. I have loved it both times. Shops, cafes, bowls club, the beach and the parks are all within 400 metres walking distance. The kids love the cubby house and the pool and I love the privacy. The interiors are quality plus and everything that you need is supplied.......right down to the salt and pepper shaker and the scissors! We even had a second parking spot for our other vehicle, located next to our locked garage. Bbqs are dotted throughout the complex too!! You need to experience for yourself just how great this place is. Love it.

Loved the lay out, put all the teenagers upstairs and had some peace and quiet! Staff was very very obliging with our late arrival and local directions. Rooms were clean and efficiant. Would stay again. Only complaint is trying to get in out of the garage in a larger vehicle is a pain. (but this could be the operator!)

We are a young couple only just starting to go on holidays together, this is our second one. The place was a huge surprise, for the price I was expecting much less. We are in the ground floor appartment with the closed off court yard. Perfect place to play cards and enjoy the breeze. The inside was immaculately clean, the decor is beautiful (awesome art and decorations) and the most comfortable lounge I've ever sat on! The bed is a bit firm, but I'm a big sook and prefer a super soft matress. The staff are all so lovely, we were greeted straight away and the younger woman explained thoroughly everything we needed to know about rainbow, giving us directions to all the must see places. Fantastic local knowledge. The grounds keeper is super polite and friendly, the grass and surroundings are so well kept. They have a playground for children and a pool as well. Aircon works, dryer is great for chucking your shorts in after a day at the beach. The garage we had was tricky to get into but they do provide other parking if you have any trouble. Love that we have a TV with austar in our bedroom. Feels just like home. I will definitely be coming back, and bringing along friends and family. We were considering the plantation resort at first, but now I wouldn't go anywhere else. Just make a note to bring softer pillows if you're a sook like me!
