“Good place to stay to feed the dolphins”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for three nights so we could feed the dolphins. Hotel is about a ten minute walk to where the dolphins come in and overlooks the sea. Our apartment was two doomed and had a nice large balcony which overlooked the pool.
We didn't use the pool because if rained the whole time we were there. Managed to see the dolphins two mornings running but had been advised they didn't cone the previous morning. The locals tho k this is due to the high levels of freseh water in the sea due to the local floods.
There isn't much going on in tin can bay but the hotel is a 5mi Ute walk from the boat club where we had dinner one night (we were only people in there)
The hotel was nice and clean and had an amenities pack ready for when we arrived which was a nice gesture. The washing machine a d dryer came in very handy a d would stat here again.

We stayed in apartment 12 which was on 1st floor and at front of property which was great. Very clean, close to everything including where dolphins come in for a feed, and handy to everything. Staff very helpful.

First time stayed here in 2007 when travelling to Australia to visit my sister. After a 26 hour flight from the UK she suggested stopping on the way from the airport to hers and said why not go see the dolphins. We literally fell across the place and i loved it, after the last day and a half i found the apartment clean comfortable and very good value. Although the pool is small i stayed a good hour just watching the sun go down. After a good night sleep we walked the 400m to see the aquatic mammals, great.
Fast foward to 2010 and i came over with my wife to visit Sis, just had to stay there again, this time I booked online and made sure i had 2 full days in the area, one to see Rainbow beach (amazing) and one for tin can bay. Clare also fell in love with the place and its simple charm, I was still smitten but could not believe the videos for loan were still the same!!!! ( joke, but true). Also found a wonderful restaurant Snappers on the water, we were the only couple there at 8.15pm and treated like we were the only couple in the world the food was great and sitting outside in such an ideal location made it even better. After a great ights stay it was off to see the dolphins, unfortunately 'misty' accidently got chased off by the local police launch and we didn't get to see and feed them. Never mind its a good excuse to stay on our next visit especially with our new daughter who would love the beach at Rainbow, the Dolphins, food, and the apartment. reccomended.

This is where I always stay when taking the kids up to Tin Can Bay. It has modern facilities, a small pool and family rooms with bunk beds.

It's nice and close to where the dolphins come in to feed and on the main road, across from the park and inlet.

God value and convenient.

Room Tip: All rooms are good and spacious

Stayed here in February, have booked it for January but couldn't make it due to the floods, so they were happy for us to use this room at a later stage. Tin Can Bay is really small so I guess every location will be good, saying that, it was absolutely lovely. It was a beautiful very sunny weekend and we had a great time, spent a day at the beach, just across the road, went to have dinner to an amazing restaurant, sorry can't remember the name, I think it was black something (a bird). Food was amazing. Anyway, room was for four people, it was only two of us, and there was a very nice balcony, kitchen and washing facilities, we stayed one night and probably didn't need all that, but it's great if you're staying longer. Room was pleasant, quite happy room. Clean too and you could pick up some DVDs from the reception. Overall, very happy and would go there again. Price was good too we thought, bearing in mind Australia is expensive in general.

Stayed there a night to feed the wild dolphins at Tin Can Bay. A peaceful seaside resort location.
There is a nice little pool for the kids to enjoy and the dolphin feeding was certainly the highlight there. The feeling of wild dolphin right in the waters with you and you get to hand feed them is simply fantastic!
The rooms are generally clean, however, do take note that the facilities in the apartment is quite worn out and not so well maintained.
The apartment manager are friendly and helpful.

We stayed in an upstairs two bedroom apartment for a night in order to visit and feed the wild dolphins the following morning. The room looked lovely and the view from the verandah would have been good if the weather had co-operated. The problem was that our apartment smelt like wet dog. It was from the lounge and the clothes I was wearing (my only jumper for the entire holiday) absorbed the smell. I was also repeatedly bitten by something I couldn't see on this lounge. The windows and doors were wide open when we entered the room so I'm sure the cleaners at least would have known about this. The kids were looking forward to the fresh water spa advertised under 'facilities'on the acommodation page on their web site, but we couldn't seem to find it. The pool was freezing. Sadly the dolphins didn't show up (we stayed from 7am to 10:30 am) - they said this happens once or twice a year. Without the smell, I would have been very happy with the apartment and service.

Room Tip: Stay in the area for two nights incase the dolphins don't show up
