“Usually good but this time like Fawlty Towers with poor aircon”
Reviewed 3 June 2013

Arrived Sunday. Mattress spring on side wall of bed was broken, staff knew about it as someone had put a hole in material trying to fix it yet they still left it on the bed. Endured it for 2 nights of bad sleep before asking for a replacement.
Tuesday morning the TV went off - seems after all the warning about digital coming in, they weren't prepared and as it was analogue it went off. During day after seeing reception staff again, a serviceman came to fix the TV and I got free stations but not Foxtel.
He also happened to turn off the fridge. This wasn't found until the following morning when the freezer had melted. I agreed to complimentary drink vouchers for food loss but were given only 15 hours to use them.
Surely nothing else could go wrong but no I still had problems.
Now it was managements time of year to switch the hotel airconditioning to winter mode (now we couldn't control the temperature of the room that was set at approx. 24Deg C.) The receptionist came to our room at midnight and spent until 1am trying to fix it until I was told I would just have to open the windows. On enquiring at reception next day I was advised by maintenance man and reception staff that if cooler air is required I had to open the windows (with its associated road noise) and put air conditioner on fan only.
I can't believe a reasonably new hotel has airconditioning that can't be used winter and summer at whatever temperature the residents of each room want to set it at.
A real shame as the location, cleanliness, rooms and restaurant were excellent and the staff responded quickly to our dilemmas but not always with satisfactory outcomes.

Room Tip: Unless you want a room in winter set at 24 deg C only stay in summer when you can control the air co...

This hotel is clean, neat and has been updated. It was a reasonable rate. The TV was a little small for the size of the room. Great range of DVD's for free however our DVD player didn't work. The beds were comfortable and good luggage space. Overall very happy with this accommodation for three of us.

This place is a little gem. No frills - basic accommodation (TV could do with updating), but all else was quite modern and spotlessly clean. I actually thought I was the first person to use the room. On making this initial observation I was focused to finding something amiss.....but nothing! I was very impressed. Bed was really comfortable...and air conditioning worked very nicely. Staff were great...polite and down to earth and made me feel very welcome. If in Ipswich again....I'd return to this hotel....if nothing more than to find something out of place!!

This is a nice place to stay, although a little overpriced for the size of the rooms. If you want to watch TV in a double room you have to sit on the bed, so if you intend spending a few hours watching TV ask for a larger room or one that has some furniture. Clean and tidy, although the bathrooms were a little old fashioned. Good for a night.

Room Tip: Ask for a bigger room, if you are doing more than just staying to sleep. We were tempted to bring th...

Stayed two nights for business last week, this hotel is modern and in a good location in the Ipswich CBD with some cafes close by,onsite underground unsecured parking available with card access to the lifts is a bonus. My room was on the 5th floor which consisted of a queen and single bed,the bed was very clean and comfortable. The Flat screen TV was a joke as it was too small to watch from the bed. Open wardrobes and tea/coffee maker in the desk, very basic.Other people have mentioned about the shower head and I can confirm its extremely weak due to the water conservation measures taken to save water in the region. Soap and saving cream via a wall dispenser, reasonable quality. Only problem I had was the noise coming from the roof above. All night some banging noises which interuppted my sleep. Front counter staff very nice on check in and the restuarant chef helped me out with a special request for dinner. Prices OK and basic food available. I had a Potaoe & Leek soup with hot bread roll for $9.50 which was nice. All in all. 9/10. A decent room for a fair price $99.00 . Good for the business person with a night or two to stay.

Room Tip: Pick a room on the lower levels. No real views to be had anyway. book the special queen room on Wot...

Currently staying at this hotel, it was booked for me through a third party. For the past two days I have woken almost unable to walk due to a sore back, compliments of the poorly sprung, sagging excuse for a mattress. When I tried to sleep on the sofa, I discovered it was broken. Tonight I will be sleeping on the cushions from the sofa laid out on the floor.... I hope the organization who paid for the booking didn't pay too much for it... Stay else where.

That being said- check out was ok, the kitchenette is handy and the bathroom is alright.

Have stayed a few times during the year while working in Ipswich. Rooms are quiet, clean, aircon works and is and generally comfortable without being anything special. Staff are friendly but can be extraordinarily difficult to get their attention after-hours when they are locked up in the office behind the front desk. Used to have surprisingly good room service, but the menu seemed to change sometime in September and the last in-house meal I had there was bizarre (described as pork, but turned out to be diced sausage on a disc of puff pastry with rocket). Would recommend eating out if you're staying overnight.

Room Tip: Ask to be facing away from the main road (i.e. facing up the hill).
