Fitzroy River Lodge

What a lovely oasis in the middle of nowhere! Great caravan park with shade and grass, immaculately maintained and well set out. Use of the pool and restaurant or bar for everyone, and lovely and quiet. No bookings for the caravan park so get there as early as you can to choose your own but its huge so you would be pretty unlucky not to get a site. Only stayed a night but would have liked another night in such lovely surroundings.

What a surprise! We were not expecting such "up market" accommodation in this area. The huge caravan park next to the river (east side) was practically empty and we were told by friendly staff to choose a spot. Wonderful shady sites and good facilities (use of resort pool, camp kitchen, bbq's, restaurant and bar). Amenities were clean although lots of insects were attracted to the outside lights at nights, screens kept them out of the amenities block. The grounds well maintained and a credit to staff. Good pub meals and an excellent verandah for a nice cold drink. Lots of bird life. Enjoyed our stay here... very relaxing and secure. Will definitely stay again.

This caravan park is great. They provide large, grassed and shady sites. You can pick your own site once you have paid and checked in. The amenities are also great: clean and plenty of them. The Caravan park is on the river and you can use the restaurant and bar in the lodge. What more do you want from a caravan park at a reasonable price. The rest of Fitzroy Crossing is depressing.

This place is how caravan parks should be!

Green, well maintained surroundings. Spacious sites witg plenty of shade. Clean, functioning kitchen with good gas BBQs. Clean toilets and showers which appear recently painted.

Well done.
Recommend.

We have stayed here twice now on a powered site and it doesn't disappoint. The amenities are clean and tidy, the staff so extra friendly, especially the wait staff in the restaurant. Gear your stay around the Sunday Buffet Roast Night. It is delicious, why cook when you have all this wonderful food at hand. The soup they served last night, I thought was to die for. Definitely an Oasis In The Outback.

We stayed nearly a week on a shaded powered caravan site here after travelling the Gibb River Road in temperatures around 38 degrees Celsius. What a great place to regroup and relax after such an adventure. Having travelled in a caravan every winter for nearly twelve years I can say with confidence that the Fitzroy Crossing Resort offers one of the better caravan parks in Australia. Hard to believe in such a remote area they have got it so right: exceptionally clean amenities; lots of grassed, shaded, good sized sites and workers buzzing about continually maintaining the high standard of the park. Loung/Bar offers good tasty home style meals along with staff who appear motivated and interested in the guests. If you are looking for a place to re-energise amongst friendly fellow travellers, in a great setting, visit this park.

Beautiful campground for our camper-trailer with excellent facilities. What was a huge disappointment was the meal. We decided, since we were staying at such a nice caravan park, and since they had a bar and restaurant, that we'd treat ourselves to a meal. What a disappointment. The choices were barely more than basic pub fare. Food that looked and tasted like it came from a bain marie. Even the chips were only ½ warm. This is the stuff that gives pub-grub a bad name and in all other ways it was so delightful.
