“Walk to Hippo's Yawn”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

An easy walk to the site. You can walk the 1km distance from the park or drive if you have problems walking the distance. Not that spectacular though. Lots of midgies. :(

“Good for a quick look and climb”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

Climb through the throat of the hippo and you can climb to the top too but just need to be careful up to. Can walk to and from Wave Rock (free parking here unlike at Wave Rock)

“Hippo's Yawn”
Reviewed 28 August 2013

Hippo's Yawn is basically a huge boulder that resembles a Hippo yawning with its mouth wide open. It's a short walk from the Wave Rock. Alternatively, you can also hop into your car and drive to it directly

“If you're visiting Wave Rock, check this out too!”
Reviewed 30 July 2013

Hippo's Yawn is named after a rock formation that actually looks like a Hippo "yawning" in the mountain side. It's about ~35 minutes round-trip between Wave Rock, and if you're in the area it's a good photographic opportunity with family or friends.

“fun and not far from the main Wave Rock”
Reviewed 2 June 2013

It really does look like a hippo yawning, and there is an easy walk back to the main campground afterward
