“It really was a great burger! in a 'no frills" kind of”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

Just a little bitty place, serves simply hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, bottles drinks, and bagged chips. That it! Cooked on a flat top restaurant grill, and maybe 1 or 2 tables inside, and 2 stand up tables outside on the street. What was really cool was that the area around it is so picturesque. and, if you want to go in here to just "grab a quick burger" or hot dog, it is the place to go! The hot dog was nothing special, grilled on the flat top, still tasty, but the burger was about 1 inch thick, not very large in diameter, but, WOW, GREAT taste! For such a small place it really hit the mark with the burger's flavor! We almost missed finding the place, and they close at 3pm. We got into town at 2:45pm and drove past it the first time. From the main road in from interstate 85, Innes Street, just drive a few blocks down past all the usual fast food places until you get to Main Street, turn right, and it is about halfway down the first block on the left (neon sign of a burger in the window, and slant parking on this street). We got in before they closed, with 10 minutes to spare, and after we were quickly served our food into a paper bag ( no frills here, folks), we went to one of the outside standup tables to enjoy it! While we stood there, several more people came in and got food, and one guy was RUNNING to get in at the very last second just before they closed! Great taste, full of flavor, ( just a regular piece of american cheese for the cheeseburger, with the slice warmed for a second directly on the grill to melt the cheese) and if you get it "all the way," it comes with chopped onions, chili and mustard. Hubby had his that way, ( chili was pretty good), and I had mine with the cheese, onions and catsup. The meat was what tasted so good! Nice and thick but not "hard" or "chewy", just a nice big bite of flavorful hamburger, so much that I couldn't even eat the whole sandwich! If you are looking for just a 'quick bite, no frills", I would definitely recommend this place! If you are looking for anything more, you might want to try one of the other places located all within walking distance of the cute little shops all up and down the street (great shopping area!) I would go back for these burgers if I was in town.

“Great home town hot dog joint!”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

Hap's is always hot, fresh off the grill burgers and dogs. The smell from the street and the line out the door are good clues to a classic formula for success. Hap's is a great community supporter and a part of downtown celebrations, both formal and informal. One of a kind chili on the burgers and hot dogs are a trademark. Try 'em with or without onion or cheese and add a bag of chips if you like. Bottled drinks, including local favorite, Cheerwine, are available. A very popular lunch spot for all types of downtown visitors and the courthouse crowd. Enjoy yours at limited counter space, right outside the door, or to go for home or one of the city's parks. It's hard to go wrong at Hap's, but arm yourself with mints or breath freshener if you have to rejoin polite society or you will remind everyone of where you ate.

“Over priced "junk food"”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

This guy Hap has fooled the masses in Salisbury. The hotdogs are not that good, the prices are excessive, the service is bad, the joint is cramped and no where to eat. If you are looking for an experience, Hap will give you one.

“Wonderful food”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

They only serve burgers and hot dogs, with or without chips, but the burgers are really great. The patty if over an inch thick and cooked all the way through. They have an eat-in area that will hold maybe six or eight standing people, but there are a couple of tables outside you can use. Wonderful food and friendly people.
