Arrived in Norseman to book room sent to service station to book!! as Motel office was closed!!!! Didn't open until 3pm I was then told there were no keys and I had to wait until the office was open so we would have had to wait an hour to see if we could have a room!!!!! the service was appalling so from now on I will be giving Norseman a wide berth.. this was the 2nd bad service as another hotel was offering lower than budget rooms for $130:00. I stayed there two & half years ago!! yucky Great Western Travel Village Come on Norseman get your act together you need travellers as well as the contractors from the roads & mining. no help at all travelled to Coolgardie - delightful stay.

Room Tip: Be careful of the word Budget

I had booked a double room and requested that the room have space for our trailer as we were travelling to Melbourne to take delivery of a new caravan and had lot's of expensive things in the trailer. I had booked the room at least two months in advance. When we got there after a very hot, windy and uncomfortable drive from Perth, I was told that because, 'we have contractors here, we can't give you the room you booked and there's no room for the trailer'. After I said that unless a room with space was found, we would go to the other motel, the receptionist grudgingly found a room where I could keep the trailer attached to my vehicle, albeit by blocking access to the laundry. I had also asked for a restaurant booking when I made our room booking but was told that because the contractors were there, the only food available was pizza and some other fast food type offering from the bain marie which was far from what we had asked for, were promised and what we expected to have, which was definitely not trying to enjoy a meal alongside a bunch of loud, drinking contractors.. Our only alternative was to walk to the roadhouse where we had a far less than satisfacrtory meal in the hothouse atmosphere there as the a/c was not working which is not good news when the day's temp had been 40+ degrees. The room was just as dissapointing with a scruffy appearance and very dirty carpet that should have been cleaned or replaced a long time ago, the only way to fill the jug was from the bathroom sink, except the tap was so low that the kettle couldn't fit under it. All in all, one of the worst, if not the worst motel room we have ever stayed in and the sooner the management get away from the old WA oiutlook of, 'if you don't like it' go somewhere else' the better because those days have long gone and once some competition comes in, this type of organisation will disappear and that can only be a good thing.

Drove from Ceduna to Noreseman 1,200 kms, didn't like what I saw as far as accommodation between the 2 towns. Just come through a fierce rainstorm10 kms out of Norseman, so wasn't going to weigh up the accomodation options. $145 bought me a pretty good room # 32. Reception staff could have done with a bit more polish, training and professionalism, room was clean and bed comfortable. Unfortunately water pipes groaned when turned on and the fan came on with the bathroom light so when all the truckies, road maintenance workers etc used the bathroom we all were awake. As they were up at 4:30 - 5am, so was I unfortunately!
I dined at the in-house restaurant and had the special of chicken stir fry and a nice glass of red which was very tasty and affordable. As the motel reception and restaurant are in the same location a blackboard with all the meals, prices, drinks etc at front of house would encourage more people to eat there - just a suggestion. I did drive to the local pub for a drink but decided against eating there!!
BP next door for breakfast and a cup of coffee - good! I rated 3 stars but with a little nore effort could easily up to 4 stars and reduce the number of 1 and 2 star ratings.

Room Tip: Looks like the new rooms are much better than the old ones. Also ask if you can be located away fro...

We stayed here overnight on our way to Perth. Plenty of safe parking for our vehicle and trailer -- the restaurant food and service was great but maybe cheaper with more options at the BP next door . The rooms are dated and in need of some maintenance but we had everything we needed and slept really well. Norseman itself is a most unattractive town and we didn't feel safe going out for tea so it was our preference to stay in for an early night

Our experience at this motel was awful. The attitude of the management was appalling not to mention the most expensive room rate of our journey. It would have been convenient to dine at the restaurant after a long days travel but decided against this. Any wonder that a person we ran into down the street did not recommend staying here. To be fair though our problem was discussed and resolved although the distress remains.
The reception lady was absolutely delightful - Thank you

Arrived in Norseman after a long days travel. we were advised not to go to this motel by a local, however all other accommodation were full. On arrival the Eftpos machine was not working and we were asked to pay in cash by the front desk lady. This lady was very pleasant explaining that management would not allow any people in the rooms unless they had paid. Said this was through no fault of our own we couldn't pay and assured the lady we were not going to abscond. We unpacked our gear into the two units we had 2 rooms for two couples. which were next to each other. A short time after we had unpacked the female manager appeared and requested payment with a somewhat aggressive attitude. We decided not to dine in their dining room on site because of the attitude of this lady but chose to dine in a local establishment where we withdrew money from an Eftpos machine at a cost, instead of being able to use our debit card. The attitude of management at this motel was disgusting. The motel units were clean and tidy but TV in one of the units only had one fuzzy channel. We paid our account after we returned from our meal.

We had not intended to stop at Norseman but were feeling tired and decided if we could get a room we would stop over for the night. Staff at the Norseman were very good and even though the motel was full of repair crews due to a derailment on the Esperance line we were given a good room very close to the dining reception area. We decided to try the dining room for dinner that night and were very pleasantly surprised, the food was delicious and beautifully presented - equal to any good restaurant in the major cities. There was a large open fire in the dining room which gave the room a delightful ambience. Our bed was very comfortable and there was sufficient hot water for both of us. The next morning we wanted to have a very early start so we had breakfast next door at the BP service station which was excellent value for money. All in all, an unexpected surprise and we will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We were in room 49 which was next door to reception and the dining room. Great for those cold eveni...
