We got there at 5:00 p.m., pulled in and asked the ranger if it was too late. His name was Andy, he was totally cool. He said they were open until 6 p.m. and told us an hour was plenty of time to get up and back. He also told us were were the only visitors there at the time and we had the whole park to ourselves. We parked right by the entrance. It's a 1/4 mile very easy walk up to the top of the falls, you walk along side the rushing river the whole way up. The views while walking up are just as beautiful as the actual falls itself. We had a great time and took tons of pictures. When we came back we talked to Andy for a few more minutes. He lives in a small quaint house right there at the entrance of the park. Turns our he is a former para trooper. Totally just a great down to earth guy, he loves his job and we enjoyed talking with him. Tip in general for life and when your traveling, be nice, be polite, be respectful and always talk to the locals, you'll get the best tips, and hear fun stories that will make your vacations more memorable.

Really enjoyed the walk to the falls. Not many trees or plants I.D.'ed as stated. Bridge was covered in moss, beautiful.

I'm glad someone had the foresight to save such a beautiful place and preserve it for future generations. I'm glad they charge an admission fee as that keeps out those who have a tendency not to respect places like this. The short walk to the falls is beautiful, and there are several places to have a picnic. The plants and trees are labeled for identification, and I agree with another reviewer that a handbook of plants or a simple guide should be offered to visitors.

Pros: Short hike to beautiful falls, great for a picnic
Cons: No visitor's guide with pictures available for purchase

Pearson's Falls located just a few minutes from either Tryon or Saluda and very easy to find, with ample parking under the trees. The falls are just a short hike up a trail that has some steep points but is lovingly maintained. This is not an "accessible" hike, but is very worthwhile for families and anyone who is mobile, since it is relatively short. There are several areas for picnicking with tables including a covered area. Some ot the plants and trees are labeled with common names for identification.
One small drawback is that with such a beautiful setting so well cared for, there is no visitor's guide with pictures and descriptions of the plants and trees. Such as guide would be a wonderful addition to a visit.
