We love the fishing and National Parks on Hatteras Island but it is always hard to find a place to stay, since it is a National Park with limited hotels etc. We had 3 perfect days at Sea la Vie and rebooked for ourselves and two other couples for a fishing trip in the summer. They were not open, but Anne and her son were there painting and sprucing up for summer and let us have the master ensuite on the middle floor. We had amazing weather for this time of year and reserved middle floor for our friends and ourselves. Wine on the deck at sunset was nice and this is really like visiting a nice relative you don't know well but like a lot. One review we read here made us want to visit the place first but we will be back. The laundry issues mentioned by someone who did NOT stay here is because this island is on a septic and with all the washings of sheets, matress pads, comforters and towels the system is not big enough for all the guests to be doing laundry. Since you can't do laundry in a hotel anyway this is not an issue for us, but when we mentioned the review we had read the owner wanted to explain this. This is a very short drive to the Oregon Inlet where we like to go out on head boats and there is the nicest beach I have ever been to very close. We got to take out the kayak and her son promised us a sailing lesson on the sunfish when we return in summer. It was nice we did not have to pay for bike rentals like most places. We just used the bikes there. We lost our key to our room and felt bad but they did not charge us, said they had a master and would get a new one made. We fish here every year and this is the best price of anyplace and a beautiful home they share with guests. My husband liked the hammocks on all the decks and tried them all.
