Viewing the falls from the best vantage point requires climbing 137 steps in each direction. The path to the falls is only a half mile but then there are the steps. A parking and use fee is required but your Golden passport works for senior citizens. The falls is fast moving and a very long drop.

This is the highest waterfall in the Eastern US. It is also a 1/2 mile walk on a paved path and a 1/2 mile back. The path was no problem for young kids and a stroller. At the half mile mark, there are some stairs (.1 mile) down to a platform with a better view of the waterfall.

The park has bathrooms and several picnic tables. Plenty of parking!

The waterfall is a 9.9 mile drive off of 64. (about 20 minute drive)

been nice to have been able to get closer to the falls, still at a distant overlook was very impressive.

Easy access to falls viewing site. Hike down to valley is challenging. Do not recommend for young children or people with heart problems

Pretty view of waterfall with easy access. We stopped on the way back from breakfast and we did not have proper attire to do the hike. However, the area is very well maintained with a walk up and steps down that were very accessible and easily done.
