“Not Fantastic”
Reviewed 8 May 2013 via mobile

This is our first stay since we became Wyndham owners. I sure hope this is not what we can expect with other resorts owned by Wyndham. We stayed in a one bedroom deluxe. The units are very dated and are in dire need of repairs, especially on the outside. The gutters are actually rotting and falling off. The inside of the unit was clean except for the head of our bed. The dust was so thick we could write in it and their was someone's long hair laying there. We found a leaf and a dead ant in our bed! My husband went down to the office and told them about the headboard being dirty and they said they would have someone come clean it and that NEVER happened. The couch is the most uncomfortable thing we have ever tried to sit on. We literally laid in our bed to watch tv. We will be letting Wyndham know about our experience as we pay outrageous maintenance fees as owners. Will come back again I'm sure but hopefully they will be updated by then!

The staff were terrific and very welcoming. We had an upstairs unit king size bed very comfortable, also good sized full size kitchen even had a dining room and pull out couch
We were very comfortable and it was very quiet, had a washer dryer which was good to have
Nice work out room, pool, and hot tub even a sauna all very convenient,we did spend a lot of time off exploring and it is about an hour and a half from Asheville on twisty mountain roads but the scenery was so beautiful we did not mind the drive.Would come back here our unit could have used a tiny bit of updating and the refrigerator was noisy no matter the setting

Room Tip: We were in unit 7 at at the very end

We have stayed at the Wyndham resort 4 years in a row. The units are clean and well equipped. I read a number of the reviews rating the facility poorly and feel a bit sorry for those folks. Our room was a place to sleep at night. Cashiers is the center of a large wheel. We went to waterfall after waterfall. We hiked on well marked trails every day. Side trips to Pishgah National Forest, Blue Ridge Parkway, Hendersonville, Highlands... So much to see. Why waste time in the resort pool or recreation center. When eating in we always go to the pub at golf course. Great pizza and beer. Very reasonable prices. We will be back again next year. We found several new areas to explore. Never a dull moment. You go to Cashiers for the great outdoors. The resort amenities just don't measure up to the surrounding adventures. But we came for the outdoors and enjoyed our time. No P&M from us.

Room Tip: The units around country club and brewery offer the most value

Overall a nice place. Not as nice as some of the other Wyndham properties but still well kept. Nice area in the mountains but it is a highly commercialized area. We went to "Mexican Night" and were surprised to see that tacos for four was 32.00. That was in a "hall" on plastic tables. We would have been better off at a restaurant. The activities areas were marked everywhere that on one under 14 was allowed without an adult present. Sorry, but that is part of the reason most people go to a resort. To let the kids off the leash a little in a relatively safe enviroment. No kids in the arcade without an adult? No kids playing miniput without an adult. Nickel and dime you to death... wanted to charge a fee for leaving early.

Room Tip: Odd number rooms are on the main level. Even number rooms are a little larger but have stairs. Only...

Fairfield Sapphire Valley is surrounded by some of the prettiest country you will ever see. The location is perfect for scenic drives and mountain hiking. We spent most of our time off of the resort but it does appear to offer a great deal right on sight for families with the activity center and pools. Our unit was in Laurel Mountain, very conveniently located near the check-in and activity center. Other sections are further down the road but all appear to have their pluses.

We had a one bedroom unit in the middle of a building. We quickly noticed that the units near the ends had fireplaces and ours did not. Given the cold spring weather the area was having, we really wished we had a fireplace as well. The unit was spacious and comfortable for 2 but we would not recommend it for 4 adults. The sofa was incredibly uncomfortable to sit on and I imagine sleeping on it would be awful. The carpet and furnishings were a bit old and dated, but the units were very clean. Beds and bathroom had very nice, luxurious linens. We saw our neighbors, but did not hear a sound once in our unit. the units were set up to provide private, wooded views.

Lately I've been disappointed with our timeshare exchanges. Many of the resorts are just rundown. While Fairfield Sapphire is not new or fancy, it is clean, comfortable, and located in an absolutely beautiful area.

Room Tip: End units have fireplaces, middle units do not. Two short flights of stairs to reach the main livin...

Enjoyed our visit very much. The "condo" itself was perfect, with an excellent kitchen, dining room, living room, and bedroom. The amenities were also wonderful, with ping pong and games, indoor pool, and gym at the rec center, as well as a large rec area outside. We also enjoyed the skiing and tubing that was on-site.

We had an absolutely wonderful time and enjoyed everything about this property!! The staff, especially John, the manager, and Matthew went above and beyond to assure we had a perfect vacation!!! The property is a little bit older but is well maintained with an obvious committment being made to upgrade wherever possible. The resort ammenities are also very nice. The area surrounding the resort has lots of fantastic hiking, kayaking and golfing available. The local restaurants are also great!!
