My wife and I stayed here overnight and upon check-in was greeted by a pleasant young lady, Ebony. She recognized me as a Platnum Member, upgraded our room and gave us good information for our stay. We had an issue with our TV and Ebony came up and corrected it for us promptly. The room was very nice with flat panel TV, nice decor, and comfortable bed. The hotel is quiet and we had a good nights sleep. The breakfast was good. The hotel is business friendly with high speed internet, a nice desk and a desktop with printer in the lobby. We will definitely stay here again. Good job Marriott! This is one of the best Residence Inns I have stayed in.

Stayed here for two nights for a visit with some local, extended family members.

The hotel itself is in good shape. The facilities aren't brand new but they've been kept up fairly well. The hotel had a nice breakfast/gatehouse area. The check in area was a bit on the small side, but nothing major.

Location is a plus. Not far from downtown Southern Pines, or Pinehurst. Around the corner from a shopping center with a Fresh Market, and another with Belk and other stores. Many chain restaurants located close by.

We had two rooms - both were one bedroom suites. It seems as if the rooms here have been recently remodeled, with the more up to date Residence Inn furniture. The two rooms were almost identical. One appeared to have slightly more updated televisions, but neither room had flat screen tvs. There are some Residence Inns that have the flat screens, and it would be nice if the other properties in the chain followed that lead. We didn't cook while we were there, so I can't comment much on the kitchen. It had a refrigerator, sink, microwave, and cook top. In short, the standard Residence Inn kitchen offerings, nothing more and nothing less. As is almost always the case at any Marriott property, the rooms were clean and tidy when we checked in.

Did have one issue with this hotel. The in-room service directories list the weekend breakfast being served until 10 AM both Saturday and Sunday. When we came down on Sunday morning around 9:40, we were told by the attendant that breakfast stopped at 9:30. No effort was made to accomodate us, and we missed breakfast because of inaccurate information provided by the hotel. They did have a sign at the front desk listing the ending time as 9:30, but they failed to update the in-room information whenever the change was made. Very poor service.

This hotel is average to me. The breakfast mishap definitely lowered my view of their service. Would I stay here again? Maybe, as the options are somewhat limited here. I'd probably try something else first, though.

OK, so its a 2 star. However, there are some basic service needs that should be met. I've recently stayed at this hotel for 6 months and literally watched the service go down hill rapidly from a change in management. The original cozy feel provided by the management and staff turned into a very impersonal turn-key operation; providing only the barest facade of concern for facilities or personal issues. There were several guests that lodged here for long stays that expressed the same sentiments. That being said, it is a well maintained facility, but only due to the professionalism of the currently working staff, NOT the management. The tempo for an organization is set from the person at the top, the GM here was/is not on her game.

Very nice area right by lots of resturants (Outback, Chili's, Chick-fil-A, TCBY, Bonefish, Starbucks, etc.)and shopping(Stein-mart. Belk, Michael's, Goody's, Best Buy, Ross) and newer movie theater (Sandhills Cinemas). We had a great little suite with a queen bed and pull out couch with kitchenette. You have to use your room key to get in all parts of ech building...Very Safe..I was by myself with my little guys...Great outdoor pool, Great Hot FREE breakfast in the morning. Very clean community with great landscaping.

Great hotel. Very clean. Have stayed here before, and found it even better this time. Staff was great, especially with setting up a golf package.
Will definitely stay here next time!

We didn't arrive until about 2am, but they had our room ready, with the configuration of beds requested. The room was very clean, everything functional, nicely decorated. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite with 5 people (two couples and 1 single) and everyone had their privacy. All of the hotel staff was incredibly friendly, from the front desk to the housekeeping to the breakfast attendents. Breakfast was a full meal - including hot bar (eggs, biscuits, bacon, etc) and waffles and more! We didn't get to go to Hospitality hour as it's only Mon-Thursday, but I understand there's free pizza, sodas, beer and wine. The pool and hot tub were clean and well situated, nice courtyard, sports court (basketball and tennis) and there was a little fitness center too. We were thoroughly happy with our stay. It's a little pricey, but I think most everything in the area was.

We got the call at home in Anchorage, Alaska that my 86-year-old mother, in Pinehurst, had become very sick. When we arrived, we checked in to our usual hotel in the area but after 2 nights, we were not comfortable so we went in search of another place to stay. We discovered the Marriott Residence Inn by chance - it's tucked away - slightly hidden from the beaten path. When I walked in to the lobby, it was about 11pm and Josh at the front desk was the epitomy of accommodating. They were booked solid, but Josh managed to work it out for us to check in the next morning. We stayed for a month. The service was unbeatable and every aspect of the property was clean and felt new. The staff were all sympathetic to our situation and went out of their way to take great care of us. When my Mom died, we stayed on for a few days to decompress. I could not have asked for a better experience during an extremely difficult time. Conveniently located, it's very quiet, great price, with a well-trained and personable staff. Excellent!
