“One of a kind lighthouse”
Reviewed 12 May 2013

When you're visiting Southport, you can see the Oak Island lighthouse and in the distance, the lighthouse on Bald Head Island. By far, Prices Creek is the most fascinating. You can't visit it, because it sits on property owned by a livestock food additive company, but you get an excellent view from the Fort Fisher/Southport ferry. It dates back to the Civil War, and hopes are one day to restore it. Bring your camera for some excellent views of the lighthouse.

“No visit except by special arrangements”
Reviewed 7 January 2013

Price's Creek Lighthouse is one of eight river lighthouses that once helped mariners navigage the treacherous Cape Fear River. Only the Price's Creek Light remains, in ruins, and is on private property. You may only see it by traveling the Southport-Ft. Fisher Ferry. The small lighthouse is marked by the property owners' long industrial pier and rests on the SOUTHPORT side of that pier. It is fun to view as you take the 25 minute ride across the Cape Fear River.

“Historic building”
Reviewed 25 September 2012

You can only see this light house from the Southport/Oak Island Ferry or a boat. Too bad it's on private property w/no access. It would be great to visit and learn about it from an historical marker, if there was one.

“Hard to spot”
Reviewed 17 July 2012

Cool place if you can see it from the ferry. Very hard to spot, and impossible to get to otherwise. The ferry ride is nice though.

“Don't Make a Day Trip out of it”
Reviewed 10 May 2012

If you're cruising up the river from Southport, you'll see it there... It's just a "mini lighthouse" that isn't lit, isn't accessible, and how it got on this attractions list, I don't know.
