“Absolutely delightful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 December 2013

Made the trip from wilmington the eat here - well worth the drive!! After a sample of the chowder, I had to have more - amazing! Was surprised by the calabash-style shrimp and grits - perfectly fried large shrimp atop creamy grits. And a spicy, roux-based sauce. I was stuffed, but I managed to down the cheesecake with strawberry sauce. Can't wait to return during warmer weather so we can enjoy the open air and view!

“Great view...why no outdoor tables?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 December 2013

This cute restaurant is directly on the water in charming Southport. The food was good, but unexceptional, at least for lunch. The building is new and has a nice open feel, but I did question our waiter about the absence of outdoor dining. It would seem a natural in such a location. And given a choice, I will always prefer to eat outside on a nice day. That aside, it was fine for lunch. Not sure if I'll go back?

“Stunned by the service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 December 2013

We had a just perfect dinner at Frying Pan. Freshly decorated for the holidays, the atmosphere was festive and beachy elegant.
The service was the best ever. When preparing to leave, we asked for a take home box for our leftover crab. The next day I opened a beautifully presented lunch complete with fresh tartar sauce. Who does that? The Frying Pan...fabulous

“great food, beautiful spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 November 2013

Five us traveled there for dinner, from Wilmington. We expected typical fried seafood, and our expectations were greatly exceeded. The waiter brought us each a sample of the shrimp and corn chowder--it was delicious, leading one of us to order a whole bowl. We had shrimp and grits, grouper, coconut shrimp, salads, bacon-wrapped scallops, and lots of hush puppies. The hush puppies were great, made with onions and served with honey butter. We also tried the house-made desserts--excellent cheesecake and sweet potato bread pudding. The staff was very friendly, the facility is new and top of the line, and the food was outstanding. We even bought t-shirts. Worth the trip!
