We stayed at the Richmond Inn B and B during the Roan Mountain Rhododendron Festival in June. This was an anniversary trip for 3 couples and some ancestry hunting for me. The Inn has spacious comfortable bedrooms and common areas and delightful Maggie, the owner, serves up a good breakfast and any directions you need. Spruce Pine is minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Penland Craft School. An annual Gem and Mineral Festival takes place there and numerous craft studios are nearby. Coming home to the Richmond Inn after a day in the mountains is great. Add on dinner at the Mountain View Restaurant for one of the most beautiful dining views you'll ever have!

My girlfriend and I traveled along the Blue Ridge Parkway this past weekend to see the views and hike trails. I found the Richmond Inn through TripAdvisor and I was not disappointed.

We somehow ended up with a room that had two queen beds (named Derbyshire), even though we only needed one. There was also a nice bathroom that we had to ourselves. The accommodation were very spacious. The Inn even had free WiFi.

The breakfast the next morning was cooked by the owner, who, while we were eating, made sure we had everything we needed. The breakfast was buffet style, consisting of: silver dollar pancakes, sausage, yogurt, cinnamon apple bread and a few other things. It was all delicious. Orange juice, coffee and milk were also offered.

We had a great time and would hope to go back!

Our recent stay at the Richmond Inn in Spruce Pine was relaxing and very comfortable. Our host Maggie, was charming, welcoming and served a great breakfast. The rooms were quiet, spacious and spotless. Our every need was met and we hope to return again.

Three friends and I, all professional women in our 40's or 50's, left husbands and children for a long "girlfriends' weekend" at the Richmond Inn. We had discovered the B&B online. Once we found the lovely and gracious Inn (it's up a hill), we were completely delighted. Maggie, the home's owner and the Inn's hostess, is friendly, accommodating, but never intrusive. I'm told that she sometimes caters events for town residents, and her food is certainly delicious. You never feel pressured to be at the table at any certain time, and she keeps food warm for you in the kitchen. She suggested, and we enjoyed, a quiet walk up the paved but wooded mountain road, even meeting the town's Mayor, who greeted us as we walked past his home! On my recommendation, my parents, who have a beloved dog, plan to stay there soon, as Maggie has a fenced-in yard and accepts pets as guests. If you are not an animal lover, however, you will be pleased to know that the pets, although well cared for, do not intrude upon the privacy of other guests. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed, with in-room bathrooms. I recommend the Richmond Inn wholeheartedly.

We have booked our entire extended family (4 adults, 6 grandchildren) at Richmond Inn for last several years in combination with a "Choose and Cut Your Own Christmas Tree" package. The kids, young and old, love the large living room where all can gather after watching the small town (Spruce Pine) Christmas parade Friday night after Thanksgiving. Maggie is the ultimate hostess and is very accomodating. The inn is close enough that guests can walk to "upper" or "lower" street in Spruce Pine and visit the Home of the Perfect Christmas Tree shop.
DT's on lower street is an excellent coffee shop, sandwich and ice cream shop.
