The family owned, family operated restaurant has been serving families in the Stokesdale area since 1958. It's a small, plain, rather worn place, with a gravel parking lot, about 12 booths and tables, and a nice, friendly owner.
They serve 3 meals a day, except for dinner on Sundays, with breakfast served until 11AM, and they do have Liver Pudding. They have the usual sandwich options, including a Pulled Pork Sandwich, and Fried Bologna. They offer salads, several meat & 2 plates, and a daily special - today was Beef Stew.
Friday Evening they offer fried seafood, which includes Flounder, Calabash style shrimp, and Swai. Swai is a white-flesh fish (typically available in fillet form) with a sweet mild, taste and light flaky texture - native to Southeast Asia, and similar to catfish. The shrimp is not pre-battered, so the taste is improved greatly.
The Chili dog here is very good despite the fact that it is thin, and has very little meat in it. What it does have is a great taste, with a vinegar like hook at the end - a good dog, and a good value at $1.70. The Cheeseburger goes for $3.40 and also is very good - nice flavor, with just a little grease to it.
The menu has a Pet's Menu section which includes; Hamburger Patty - $2; Cheesburger Patty - $2,30; Chicken Patty - $2.80; and Fido can have an All-Beef Weinerfor $1.20, 2 for $2. I would guess you have to get these items to go.
