“An unexpected pleasant surprise!”
Reviewed 8 January 2014

Having experienced most of the Holden Beach area restaurants, I went in with no expectations. What a great surprise! Elegant menu with chef inspired sauces. Creativity with the menu, delicious food, pleasant service and moderately priced. We left happy and with leftover's for lunch. Will definitely visit again. Thankfully a local restaurant with some flair. Would recommend.

“Pride of the beach”
Reviewed 16 October 2013 via mobile

This IS the best restaurant in the Holden Beach area. Yes, the exterior is unimpressive and the interior decor is bizarre ( and that is being kind). However, the service is efficient and friendly, and the food is simply light years above the usual fried seafood found in these parts. Having dined on seafood all week, my brother and I decided to have ribeye steaks, usually not one of my favorite cuts of beef. Mine was by far the best ribeye steak I had ever eaten. I accompanied mind with a half liter of Sam Adams Octoberfest beer. I understand that the restaurant also serves beer, but the Octoberfest was just fine with perfectly grill ribeye. If you are ever down to Holden Beach, a stop at this establishment is a must.

“Surprisingly good”
Reviewed 7 September 2013

Our family of 7 stopped in for dinner on the recommendation of a local that we bumped into at the miniature golf course. We'll visit again based on the dinner had by all. Perhaps the best was the lump crabmeat cakes that two of us had, although noone was disappointed. We had three yougsters in the group, one of whom spilled her milk, and the staff handled the mess with the same attitude that your grandmother might; no muss, no fuss. Not much to look at as sevral have said, but definitely a good place to eat.

“You're in for a treat!”
Reviewed 22 August 2013

If you want marvelous decor, you better drive to Wilmington or Myrtle Beach. If you want marvelous food and genuine southern hospitality, you should have a seat at Boone Dock's.

Our group of 11 people ate at Boone Dock's twice during our vacation at Holden Beach. It was so delicious, and there were so many things we wanted to try on the menu, that we had to go back a second time!

We have been generally unimpressed with the run-of-the-mill seafood joints in Calabash, OIB and Sunset Beach. Finding Boone Dock's was like finding buried treasure!

The casual atmosphere is great for families with kids. The kids menu has "real" chicken tenders, made from scratch, instead of the standard processed nuggets. The waitresses were so friendly and accommodating, it almost felt like you were a guest in their home, rather than eating in a restaurant.

Top picks from our group - onion rings, fried green tomatoes, crabcakes (huge portion of LUMP crabmeat, no filler), lightly breaded fried flounder, fried oysters that were juicy and flavorful (not dried out or over-breaded). The Seafood New Orleans special was also a huge hit with our group.

This restaurant does everything from scratch. Nothing is fried ahead of time or pulled out of a microwave. The outstanding service is the perfect complement to the outstanding food! Cheers to Chef Scott!
