Fort Tatham is primarily an RV Park, but they do have tent spaces available. We stayed here to do some gem mining in nearby Franklin. The owners are amazingly friendly and hospitable! We left our tent poles back home and my sister had them shipped down for us. The owners delivered our poles to our site and made sure that we were all setup.
There are a bunch of retired summer residents who walk their little dogs past the tent area every day. All of these folks were quite friendly and allowed their dogs to endure my childrens' petting. I could tell that these folks were watching out for us and it made us feel extra welcome and safe during our stay.
The campsites at Fort Tatham have water and electric and are backed by a nicely flowing creek. The kids enjoyed playing in the creek very much! The campsites are grass so despite a slowly deflating air mattress, it was a soft surface to sleep on. It's worth mentioning that you cannot have an open fire in the tent area. But gas/charcoal grills are okay. They have a community fire pit under a big pavilion and we did cook our meal there one night.
The bathrooms, laundry, and pool are located a short walk away on the other side of the playground. The catch and release pond is near the main office. Everything is very clean and if you need anything at all, the owners are very responsive and happy to help.
If you need any supplies, WalMart, a grocery store, and fast food restaurants are within 15 minutes in either direction.
We had a very good time at Fort Tatham and felt very safe during our stay.
