“Great 2 hour or so place to visit”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

The admission fee of $8.00 for Seniors is reasonable. The museum has a good display of antique toy trains, a top flight HO layout, featuring this area, a short historical section -- focused on the ACL and the Civil War. Some outside rolling stock completes it.

There is a good kid section.

We went on a locals day and were happy with what we saw. The museum is for kids and adults. We liked the train cars the most.

“A great little museum packed with history”
Reviewed 17 April 2014 via mobile

This is a great little museum! It is packed with historic artifacts and really neat model trains that fill a room with tracks and different landscapes/cityscapes.

For those of us who grew up here, it is neat to learn how important the railroads were to Wilmington.

There is also a real caboose outside to explore which was a treat because most real railcars elsewhere are locked. They also have steam engine 250 that is really fun because though it is stationary, it has a looped soundtrack of real engine sounds. Our little one could pretend he was leaving one station and approaching another with the sounds and ability to touch all of the levers and check gauges.

If you have children who glue themselves to train tables, you will not easily escape the two train tables, tons of tracks, toys, books, play caboose, and Thomas and Friends on the television in the kids' play area. However, it is a lot of fun for the kids and a welcomed break for all.

The staff members are very friendly and very knowledgeable.

We had a great afternoon at this museum.

If you live here or visit Wilmington frequently and have children or grandchildren who love trains, their annual membership is well worth the investment.

“What a Neat Museum”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

We stayed within 2 blocks of the museum. It is not a huge museum like the B&O in Baltimore,
more of a quaint museum. No one would be disappointed visiting it.

“Enjoyed the museum”
Reviewed 14 March 2014

It was around $10. per adult, but the visitors center just down the walk way had coupons and lots of helpful information. The museum was great. Many trains for the big and small kids to enjoy.
