“Great field trip for school history classes.”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

This memorial is excellent in teaching children and college students important details about or nation's history. The railroads played an important role in our nation's history. We would not be where the nation is today if it weren't for the railroad industry. A MUST SEE FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES!!!

“"All Aboard"”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

I took my family to Wilmington,NC and we visited the Railroad Museum. My dad was a foreman on the railroad. When we drove up he was exicited because he was able to tell his grandaughter about all the Engine and Kaboose that sat outside the building. He saw equipment he hasn't seen in years. The museum covered a lot of terrritory. The detailed display in the back of museum of trains and replicas of familiar towns in the state. I thought it was great because we had our own guide. If you have kids that love trains, they will love this museum as well. I recommend this museum.

“Wilmington's history of railroading.”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

Through the use of words, photos & models the history of Wilmington's railroad is explained. A large number of glass cases are filled with railroad items, stories about the Atlantic Coast Line. African-Americans contributions and the American civil war. There uniforns, & the inportance of the telegraph. In the Model Hall are a large number of different operating scale model trains. The Children's Room are larger trains.

This museum hold the Guinness World record for the largest train model. Outside are the only railroad vehicles, which are an Atlantic Coast Line locomotive, tender & boxcar. Also a caboose.

Children will enjoy a visit as much as an adult. Parking is behind the boxcar & is free. The lot can accommodate motorcoaches & RVs. No large crowds which will allow a visitor to take their time to read & view. A true railroad buff might not have a great interest, however as a museu toward just one area of railroading-the Atlantic Coast Line- this museum could be an unknown gem.

I recommend a visit.

Jack. L., Syracuse, New York.

“Nice display of trains”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

We popped into the museum and found it to be full of all the old fashioned train sets we remembered as kids. I enjoyed looking at all the nostalgic displays from a simpler time, especially the details of the old carnival rides and cars. Kids of all ages would enjoy this museum.
