Had always come to town and stayed at the Hilton; couldn't get a room, so decided to stay next door at Best Western Coastline Inn. What a lovely experience; will not be staying at the Hilton anymore when in Wilmington!

Stayed at this hotel for one night while visiting Wilmington. The location is perfect--it sits right at one end of the River Walk. I'm not sure what the buildig had been, but it is clearly older and laid out in an unusual fashion. You walk out the back of the lobby and are then outside on a wide, cement "catwalk" and from there you get to the rooms. There was a "catwalk" on each floor that joined the rooms to the main building, and there was seating on each of them which provided you an opportunity to sit ouside near your room if you so desired. There are no internal corridors. Our room looked directly at the river. It was small but able to accommodate two very comfy double beds, a large flat screen TV, a small desk with 1 chair, two narrow closets and a small bathroom that had a very large shower and an exhaust fan. Folks at the front desk were very pleasant at check in. We called the front desk as soon as we arrived in our room because one of the bulbs in the bathroom was burnt out making it very dim. As well there was very little toilet paper (no spare roll) and no tissues. We said the light bulb could wait but we'd like the toilet paper and tissues. Since we'd seen the housekeeping staff when we checked in, we thought someone would bring these items up, but they did not. In hindsight, i wish the folks at the desk had just asked us to come down to pick up the items which was what we ended up doing the next morning. Our room was on the third floor which was where the breakfast room was. The food was good, but the room was very, very small with 3 or 4 tables and a bar around two of the walls...except with people sitting at the table you are unable to get to the bar. There was some seating outside in the "catwalk" that joined the breakfast room to the hotel rooms, but it was incredibly windy (all the time it seemed), so you'd only sit out there if it were very warm outside. Despite this, I really like the hotel and the location and would stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms on first floor have direct access to the lobby and street. From the second floor direct access...

Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Location was easy walking distance to sites and restaurants. I especially liked being able to walk out the room door and be outside. It was also nice having a view of the river out the window of the room.

Enjoyed a 2 day stay this past week. The location is fabulous, we only had to use our car to drive to the battleship ( the water taxi doesn't run off season come to find out). Pick a room on the higher floors for a better view. Room was small, as was bathroom. Had a rainfall shower head which I thought would be nice, but I'm not a fan. Unless you are standing directly under, it's somewhat cold and messes up dry hair. Breakfast was in a cramped closet and was basic, a microwave biscuit, yogurt, fruit, juice, one of those waffle makers.
The gem here is the outside river walk. We stayed out there. Plenty of seating to look at the cape fear river with direct access into the second floor of the hotel. Restaurants couple blocks up the river walk. It ison the furthest fringe of the historic district but we love walking but would be challenging for a disabled person. Will always stay here if back in the city.

Room Tip: Rooms up offer offer better views

If you must be away from home for business or pleasure then the Best Western Coastline is the place to stay. Great hotel and staff from top to bottom is awesome. Very friendly and calls you by name almost from day 1. Great view of the water from every room and over looks the boardwalk that goes into and all around the downtown area. This is the place to stay when in or around Wilmington by far. Manager of location is Roz and there is no greater but all staff is wonderful to deal with and makes you feel at home and if you have issues with your stay which here you normally don 't, but if you do they take care of on the spot. Greatest customer, which is very rare to find. AWESOME HOTEL 7 STAFF

Stayed at Best Western Coastline last week in Wilmington while my husband attended a conference. Very nice, clean and close to historic Wilmington. I walked on the river walk everyday and observed the wonderful quaint shops and restaurants. Close to ferry to Battleship North Carolina. Great breakfast and wonderful view of Cape Fear River.

The Best Western was very convenient to historic downtown Wilmington. Our room was clean had a very nice view of the river. I enjoyed walking out on the pier connected to the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bed was a little soft but not too uncomfortable. I would stay there again.
