My wife and I have been here almost a dozen times. It is by far one of our favorite places in NC and the historical district is truly a bustling center of activity and has facinating points all around. There are a famous diners, restaraunts, shops, and Wilmington is home of the hit tv series "One Tree Hill" (my wife is more excited about that anicdote then me). Make sure you get some ice cream from the place off the main strip (you will know when you see it) and the shops are truly unique. I was able to purchase African furniture pieces from the Una Luna tribe as one Gentleman ownes and operates a Tribal Exhibit. The best part it that he travels to these places and actually spends time with the people. He stopped and spoke with us about how they made each item and even showed us pictures of him in Zimbabwe with them. There are numerous oppritunities to get imported merchendise and foods here. I got some excellent Olive Oil imported from Sicily last time I visited.

These shops and resturaunts are a bit expensive but nothing more than you would expect for a upper class cultural district. You can make your day affordable if you want to and still come out with a great time of walking, enjoying the beautiful arcitecture and the harbour with a coffee. Defanitely a great place to ferquent time and time again especially for couples.

Take the horse and carriage tour. Awesome way to catch you up to Wilmington history in a quick hour tour.

We stayed at the Greystone Inn, walked to many bars/restaurants and had a great time. The city is clean, people are friendly. Great time overall!

Well worth your time to walk through and check out the old buildings; easy to do a self-guided tour with all the signs they have out.

We looked for antiques at the shops, had lunch and ice cream and enjoyed the historic buildings, we also really enjoyed the ghost tour at 8:30! It was perfect for the teens and young adults with us.
