Stayed here for a weekend getaway and was very pleased with everything from the location, hotel atmosphere, great customer service, cleanliness and decorations in the room. We stayed in the Captains Quarters room, it even has an electric fireplace! Overall I was very impressed with this place and would stay here again.

It was a pleasure staying. Checking in, they didn't just point where to go, they walked out to make sure we knew where. Rooms are overlooking a courtyard, not a parking lot. Clean room, everything worked, walking distance to about anything. We enjoyed our stay and next time we are that way, we will book again.

We stayed in the Dram Tree House this past Spring for three nights with our one-year-old and large dog. The room was extremely spacious with a separate bedroom perfect when we had to put out young son to bed, and a front porch perfect to relax in the evening while he was in bed. Because we were there three nights we ended up bringing food back to the hotel, which is convenient due to its close proximity to downtown restaurants, as well as the nice kitchenette. The hotel was also very pet friendly which allowed our dog to travel with us for the holiday weekend. While our hotel choices we limited because of having a pet, we were not all disappointed by our stay, and in fact would stay here, again, even traveling without a dog (as were several other repeat customers we met during our stay).

Room Tip: The three upstairs rooms of the Dram Tree House share a large porch with ricking chairs.

Not only was our room clean and AC cold, but the staff was very friendly and helpful. We were attending a wedding but no children were allowed. We took turns hanging out with our kids in the room and when it came time for food, not many places delivered. When calling the front desk, they offered to go pick up our food as long as we ordered what we wanted and paid for it. I was blown away that they would take care of us like that. The room had everything we needed, even a little kitchen with refrigerator, stove and small dishwasher. It even included dishes and utensils along with a coffee maker. From what I understand not all rooms have the same things so it's important to ask when you book your room. We would definitely come back next time we are visiting.

Room Tip: Call ahead of time and know that most other hotels require two night minimums during season but I do...

We recently stayed here for a wedding event down the street. This hotel is literally steps away from downtown Wilmington bars and restaurants. It is old-but with lots of personality. We stayed in the Maritime House, which was a former convent. You could really feel the spirit there. The room was small, but very well-equipped. I loved the atmosphere with the rocking chairs outside the room. We were traveling with my 85 year-old mother-in-law. The staff was wonderful about finding us a room on the first floor closest to the street. We had a wonderful stay! Recommend if you're ok with older amenities.

We'd originally planned on staying at a big box brand-name place but decided to try a place with more character, and what a nice surprise we found in the heart of Wilmington's historical section! The Wilmingtonian consists of 3 buildings, and we chose a mini-apartment in the Maritime, which had a separate living room and galley kitchen done up in unique nautical decor. The king size bed was quite comfortable and the place was quiet. The continental breakfast was minimal and meant to be eaten at the table in your room as there was no dining room, but you could pick up the packaged muffins, yogurt, fruit, and juices at any time and thus not have to bother with getting dressed for a trek down to the office in the morning. They also kept free sodas and water available at all times, along with popcorn packages and trail bars for snacking. Each room had a two cozy rockers on the porch overlooking a pleasant enclosed green space where we enjoyed afternoon drinks. The only negative: the young man in the office demonstrated barely adequate social skills, though the lady named Pam had a terrific personality.

Room Tip: Ask for the Maritime building if you like something with an interesting historical edge - it was bu...

I stayed here for a weekend to attend a wedding and I was very pleased with my stay. The suite was very nicely appointed and extremely clean. The office keeps a good supply of snacks and drinks for guests, and the light breakfast was good. There is no elevator for the second floor, and parking is across the street from the hotel, but those are just things to expect and plan for, not detriments. I think I paid somewhere approaching $400 for two nights, so it is not a cheap solution. However, I would recommend The Wilmingtonian if you're looking for a beautiful, quiet, and safe place to stay for a festive weekend.
