If you are looking for good and authentic southern cooking in great variety and unlimited amounts, this is your place. The price is reasonable if you are able to eat a hardy portion of food at one sitting. A meal with drink (mostly iced tea), tip and tax will run about 17 dollars. You will find all the soul standards as well as some less available items (pig's feet, chitlins, cracklins, etc). You are allowed to eat as much as you like and from the looks of most of the diners, many are going way past that. It must be said that this is not a soothing, romantic, and relaxed place to eat. Go elsewhere for that. This place is noisy, crowded, messy, and marginally clean. The surfaces and floors are past well-worn...partly because it is probably impossible to keep up with the volume of food and number of people served. The lighting is spotty, many surfaces are darkened by smoke and grease. The staff tries to keep the buffet areas cleaned up but there are way too many guests touching everything for my tastes. Our impression was that it was time to close the restaurant for awhile and do a major cleaning and re-fresh. The food itself is good, not great but the staff is friendly and attentive.
