This elegant 1854 mansion in Wilmington's downtown historic district was lovingly restored in the 1990s by its owners, Chuck and Dennis. It lives up to its name as there are four balcony porches to relax on plus a raised patio overlooking the garden. The location is excellent, within easy walking distance of the abundant upscale and casual restaurants and shops in the small downtown of this historic port city on the Cape Fear River. However, what really inspires us to return for a stay is the comfort and elegance of the interior and the warmth and charm of the hosts. The living room, library and dining room are very inviting. The superbly creative breakfasts and proffered wine in the afternoon are a plus too. Chuck is very entertaining, informative and friendly and Dennis was kind enough to play his ancestral 19th century music box for us. Ample parking on the residential street. One warning - you do have steep staircases to climb with your luggage.
