“Charming Inn, Charming Host”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 October 2013

My husband and I had the good fortune to stay at the Taylor House Inn in the historic district of Wilmington, NC for four nights. Our host , Scott, was attentive to our every need from the first phone call to place our reservation to welcoming us to the inn, showing us around the house and sharing information about Wilmington attractions and eateries. Our room, named Peace, was lovely in every respect, clean, comfortable bed, quiet and had a private bath. The only negative was the relative small size of the shower, but it is an antique home and we were happy to have a private bath. Scott's breakfasts were great and we rarely needed lunch they were so filling, so we could splurge on some fabulous restaurants in Wilmington and nearby Southport. Little extras, like sweet tea served in the upstairs hallway in the afternoon, and chocolates in the bedroom were greatly appreciated. Breakfast is served at nine, somwe made an early walk each day to Port City Java in downtown Wilmington, although Scott leaves coffee out at 8am.

We hope tomsomeday return to this lovely inn. We have stayed in many b&bs and this was one of our very favorites.

We were in Wilmington, NC for a wedding and wanted the charm offered by a B&B. My wife found the Taylor House Inn on the internet. It was located close the the wedding venue and is within the Wilmington historic district. The Inn is a turn of the century home. The guest rooms are very well furnished with antiques and are clean and comfortable. You will sleep well in this quiet Inn. Scott, your host, is very hospitable, helpful and a good cook. The breakfast is just right with coffee, juice, and fruit for starters. Scott prepared the best french toast and pancakes I have had in a long time. If you are traveling to Wilmington and want a B&B experience you can not go wrong staying at The Taylor House Inn. We will certainly be going back.

My wife and I just got back from a great stay at Taylor House. The room was beautiful, the location convenient (we parked the car and walked everywhere), and Scott was a very kind, gracious, and informative host. Thank you for a wonderful birthday weekend in Wilmington. We will definitely call again.

This was our first stay at a b&b in Wilmington and from the minute we arrived, Scott was the perfect host. He sat us right down in the parlor and provided us with a map of the area and had several suggestions of where my husband & I might dine that night. Since we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary, we arrived to find fresh roses and Godiva chocolates in our room ("Joy") and a bottle champagne chilling in the upstairs fridge. The inn is an easy six-block walk to the downtown and waterfront areas and is surrounded by several historic attractions. We awoke each morning to fresh brewed coffee on the sideboard in the hall and Scott served up a delicious homemade breakfast w/ fresh fruit and juice each morning. We thoroughly enjoyed a very restful stay at the Taylor House and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

We chose to stay a night in Wilmington to break a journey and booked in at Taylor House. Now we wish we had decided to stay longer. Wilmington has a lovely historic district with a large number of antebellum homes and although Taylor House is early 20th Century it was built in the grand style with high ceilings and enormous rooms. The house has a ton of character and has been wonderfully furnished and decorated with period pieces. Two parlours allow for a choice and classical music wafts through the downstairs. Our room was huge, the bed comfortable and the appointments excellent. Scott, our host, was charming and welcoming and a mine of information about places to go, eat and see.
Taylor House is hard to fault. We would return in an instant.

This B&B offers beautiful rooms with lovely antiques. The location is convenient to downtown and on a quiet street where parking was readily available. The Innkeeper greeted us warmly and took the time to explain all the area restaurants, attractions and beaches. The gourmet breakfast was excellent and beautifully presented.

We had one of the loveliest travel experiences on our overnight stay at the Taylor House Inn. Our host, Scott, could not have been more helpful when we arrived, trying to make sure we had all the info on what we might like to do in the area. There were suggestions for dinner and museums.

Our room was lovely - he even irons the sheets! Every room has a private bath and shower. The inn is a minutes-drive from the downtown historic district where we spent the afternoon and evening. Great food was available everywhere.

In addition to home-made iced tea delivered outside our room when we arrived, we also had fresh coffee and tea delivered at 8am the next morning, to tide us over until our opulent breakfast in the dining area. The fresh fruit salad had fresh whipped cream. Our French toast was decadent. Scott offered as much conversation as his guests like, not too much or too little. The inn itself is absolutely charming, with rooms available to just sit and talk and a lovely front porch.

I would recommend this inn to anyone looking for a b&b experience in historic Wilmington.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely - go by your price range and Scott will choose a room for you. It was quie...
