It's apparently really difficult to book a room here, so we felt lucky to have been invited for a weekend stay during a recent visit to Wake Forest U. The property is a converted luxury estate that once belonged to the Gray family, and its picturesqueness is matched by its hospitality. Our room in the Mews annex, formerly the stables and now converted, was impeccable and comfortably furnished, though not all that soundproof. Complimentary breakfast is available both at the Manor House (the main building) and the Mews every morning, and there is a fitness center, gift shop, and best of all, complimentary ice cream available on site. Fitness and jogging trails are all around, but even walking the lovely grounds is good exercise. All the staff members we encountered were full of old-fashioned Southern charm. Despite the uncomfortably chilly weather that marked our stay we had a lovely time.
