I was astounded by this place, so carefully crafted in an old cotton mill. Perfect location near old Salem, peaceful location, wonderful setting. The room was astounding, a split level, with bed up on first level and wonderful living room below, high ceilings, huge windows, felt more like a loft in NYC. I seldom write reviews since I am a critic of most places, but this place is special. I won't stay anywhere else in Winston-Salem ever again. And most of all, it was $129 per night, and I'm used to being gouged at places in Northeast, West Coast, Europe. A+

My wife and I stayed here because of the proximity to Old Salem and stumbled across this gem! It was a great balance between the hominess of a B&B and the conveniences of a chain hotel. The room layout was great; sort of industrial meets old school. Loved the Keurig and microwave amenity. We hated to leave.

Room Tip: Rooms on the lower east wing might have some noise due to the proximity of the reception hall. There...

We loved this converted 19th century cotton mill, large, warm, elegant rooms, very clean with comfortable work station, great bed, mood lighting, even a rocking recliner and a kitchenette. They give guests complimentary wine and nibbles at night and even milk and cookies at bed time! Off-street parking and very conveniently located on the edge of the 18th century Winston-Salem historic village - a must-visit destination in North Carolina! We had an extraordinary and wonderful experience!

My wife and I stayed at the Brookstown Inn in Winston-Salem, N.C. Our "King Suite" room had 2 windows that you couldn't see out of, unless you were looking up at the sky. It was on 2 levels, which was ok for us, but not for an older couple. The bed was confortable and was great to sleep in. The Brookstown is billed as a "Bed and Breakfast", which is true, if you want a continental breakfast. The rates, we were told, are about to increase by about $70 for each room type, each night. The increase takes effect before 2013 ends and will pay for the many improvements, the hotel as made.I'm not much of a wine drinker, so the late afternoon wine and cheese time, was not special for me. The milk and cookies time, during the evening, was nice. All in all, the best recommendation I can give is," it's close to Old Salem." Old Salem is a don't miss !

Room Tip: don't get room 233 or those on that side of the hall, unless you like no window to see out of.
