ideal outing for families and seniors. very interesting to see video of how butterflies live. easy walk for seniors. we found some of the walking paths in need of some cleaning-up-after previous visitors. overall very educational in a pleasant environment

Perhaps butterflies are created to make you feel like kids again :-) After your jalan-jalan in the urban parts of Georgetown, it's very relaxing to just enjoy in the swing while being kissed and entertained by these short-lived creatures.
The area where visitors are allowed to interact with butterflies is not very grand and I think there's not much numerous species yet it's nice to know that your visit has helped the butterfly sanctuary.
You can also see other insects there.

How to get there?
Take Rapid bus either #101 or 501. Going to Teluk Bahang are other attractions - floating mosque, batu ferringhi beaches and night market at 6pm, tropical spice garden and the national park.

Visiting the butterfly farm in Penang Malaysia was an out of the world experience. The butterflies, other insects, the gardens, and flowers were an absolute treat to see and experience. Hundreds of butterflies in all stages were everywhere. I wore a red blouse and attracted lots of butterflies. I was allowed to hold a very big scorpion under the supervision of a reassuring guide. We had ample opportunity to take the most spectacular photos. It was an enriching experience and I would recommend any tourist to Malayasia to visit the butterfly farm.
