Enjoyed our two night stay here. Lovely well kept pub with fantastic real ales brewed on the doorstep. Staff all very friendly and attentive; excellent Sunday carvery which we really enjoyed, far better food than the large chain pubs. Rooms are being refurbed at the current time to what looks like a very high standard. Agree with the previous comments re the chips.. They ARE the best chips ever. Will definitely be back. Will be 5 stars once the rooms are finished.

I had the mussels to start which I shared (too big for one!) and the sea bass for main. Absolutely beautiful. My partner had the chicken burger and our friends had the gammon and steak pie. The portion sizes are good and we couldn't fault the food. Price was average. The decor and layout of the pub aren't great but will be returning for food and would recommend.

we are frequent visitors to The Brewers Arms. not to stay just to have a drink and something to eat. The Old Mill ales here are gorgeous and the food is lovely and good value for money..the host and hostess are both lovely friendly people and nothings too much trouble

We stayed here for one night on a family function.

Although we were allocated a Double bedroom at the front of the hotel due to the thick walls and double glazing there was no noise at all from the road outside. The room was average size with en suite facilities which were ok. A large flat screen TV was on the wall at the bottom of the bed which was nice. Unfortunately the bed was very uncomfortable (too soft) probably because we are used to a very hard bed at home. There was adequate closet and drawer space. It should be noted that we were informed a full refurbishment of all rooms will take place later this year where they will be increased in size.

We had a full evening meal at the restaurant. The main course was really nice and we can recommend the fish as it comes from the pubs own fishing boat based in Whitby, served with proper home made chips. The starter and sweet were just ok as the portions were a little on the small side for the price paid. There is an extensive wine list present however the prices are a bit top heavy. A good selection of real ales are also available
