We stayed at the Scandia for about 2 1/2 weeks. It is a modest hotel, with very basic amenities. The decor is a bit dated and somewhat worn, and there were some areas where the paint could be touched up. It is directly across the street from the Sanford Hospital and Roger Maris Cancer Center.
Things we liked: The people at the desk were friendly and when we asked to extend our stay, they were very easy to work with. We had a suite, there was a small kitchenette, table, sitting area with a couch and rocker, and the bed was in another room. It was clean, the bed was firm, and there was never any problem with noise from others; however since it is directly across from the hospital you do hear the helicopter if they leave on a call. The housekeeping crew all did a nice job in our room. There is a laundry downstairs. The parking area is well lit.
Some of the cons (to us): The area in the front of the hotel has a picnic table and bench that were very often occupied by smokers and oftentimes the trash bin was full. I think this hotel would seem more inviting if they had a different area that smokers could smoke. There is not internet access in the rooms. They do have a computer in the lobby for people to use.
This hotel met our needs for this trip and we would stay again.
