“A Fargo-Moorhead staple”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

I have been coming here my entire life. My Grandpa would come here daily to have coffee with the other senior citizens and talk about the weather and who has the largest squash and cucumbers in their gardens and who has the best method of keeping the rabbits out. He also had a bad habit of pretending he needed more napkins and walking into the kitchen to ask for more. He loved coming home and feeling like he scored free napkins.

The Fry'n Pan is synonymous with wholesome family gatherings and a standard American menu. Senior Citizens love the Fry'n Pan as they have senior discounts and senior day. They have the best salad bar in town. It is always fresh, it's open until 11 p.m. and the croutons are delectable! The restaurant, itself, is open 24 hours - and is very popular after bar closing time.

“It was a good breakfast.”
Reviewed 17 May 2014

We went there for breakfast after the Fargo Marathon with some friends. I have not been here before. The menu is gigantic. Really too many choices. The service was acceptable but our waitress was not happy to be there. Curt and no energy. The food was good. The exception was the hash browns which were way over salted. An average good meal. Although we did not have any, their salad bar and dessert case looked great. Overall and average good meal.

“Not the same”
Reviewed 27 January 2014

My boss invited us to have breakfast with him. It's been years since I was here and I can see why I haven't been back. Service was great. Our server name badge said she had been their since 1995. Food was just okay. Nothing special at all. Place was full of locals, just like other reviews said. Most over 65 and just drinking coffee. Now the coffee was good. Comes in a pot and they keep filling it up for you.

“Going Downhill Fast”
Reviewed 12 October 2013

When we first started frequenting Fryn' Pan, the food was usually pretty decent. Prices are reasonable for this type of establishment, kind of like a Denny's, but without the cheap prices.

Then the new manager came in and things went downhill fast. Claiming to anyone within earshot that because of the Affordable Care Act that he was cutting all employee hours to 19 hours per week, he lost his longtime night cook, who put out pretty decent food. Most of the other longtime employees also left. Now, it's a revolving door for hirings and leavings, with service and food quality taking a major backseat to try to save a few bucks.

You would never know there was anything wrong here by the packed parking lot, but these are the locals who have been coming here for years and just won't admit that the food is not up to standard.

The burgers are like hockey pucks now, chicken fingers so overcooked that you have to chew them and chew them and chew them. Sandwiches are hit or miss, the training level of the wait staff non existent and generally, you can get a much better meal for the same price by going west to the mainstays like Perkins. And even though they are open late at night, no one wants to deal with all the after bar drunks stumbling around while you're just trying to get through your meal.

It's actually sad to see a Fargo institution like Fryn' Pan go down the drain like this.

“Disappointed”
Reviewed 22 August 2013 via mobile

Used to be a good place to eat! Went there with my dad for breakfast! Service was slow and the food was OK at best! Not as much selection on there entire menu as they used to have. Not bad price but get better food and more food at another area restaurant for the same price or little more but I'd rather pay a little more for good food!
