“Beautiful Gite”
Reviewed 2 weeks ago for a stay in July 2018

Just back from a lovely relaxing stay at Le Maison Rose. So many lovely towns and villages within a short drive. Beaches along the Morbihan coast are really pretty and well worth visiting. The only thing that would have made our stay more perfect would have been if the local bar/restaurant had been open, unfortunately closed during our stay, everything else was perfect, hope to return in the future. Thanks Nicola and Mark.

I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at La Maison Rose.
Yes, it was such a shame that the restaurant was closed during your stay. The local restaurants offer such great value for money. Most of our guests enjoy the restaurant in the next village, four or sometimes a five course lunch with wine for just 12 euros!. The only catch is there isn't a menu, everyone has the same. It can't be bad though as they serve over 100 lunches a day!
I am pleased that you enjoyed everything that Brittany has to offer, the towns, villages and miles of sandy beaches!
Hope to see you again soon!

I am so pleased that you had a pleasant stay at La Maison Rose and that Brittany lived up to all of your expectations!
As we live here we tend to take the local towns for granted, but you are right, Malestroit, Josselin and Vannes are full of medieval character.
Once again, so pleased that you had a good holiday

A nice gite with all modern facilities located in a small village with a restaurant and shop.
The owners Nicola and Mark are friendly and very helpful - nothing seems to be too much trouble.
The area is a great place to visit and we hope to return again next year.

“Far better than a home-for-home - delightful!”

We came to La Maison Rose in mid-October to begin our quest for a property to buy in the Morbihan. Our house in the UK was sold, our household goods in store and, following a couple of helpful and delightful phone calls with Nicola, we arrived in Reminiac with promises of house-hunting assistance from Nicola and Mark. La Maison Rose was instantly welcoming and quickly felt like home. The house was spotlessly clean, light and comfortable. Mark and Nicola both popped in on our first day to say hello and make sure we had everything that we needed. The internet access was very important to us and worked brilliantly (far better than in the UK!). Mark introduced us to Bertrand, a local Estate Agent, who arranged an afternoon to accompany us to visit various properties. Every time we came back to la Maison Rose, we felt able to relax, and with all the equipment provided, we lacked for nothing. Our offer for a property was accepted and then it was time to holiday for three months whilst the paperwork went through. The box-file of suggestions for places to visit was very useful indeed. We particularly enjoyed the animal and activity park at Branfere; La Gacilly, with its “Festival of the Soup”; Rochefort-on-Terre with the Festival of Lights and Christmas Market; the Monday market at Questembert; the Thursday market at Malestroit, where you can nibble the croissants you have just bought whilst walking along the river to exchange the paperbacks you’ve read at the Library kiosk; the menhirs and reconstructed prehistoric settlement at Monteneuf and our favourite coastal walk around Penn Lann, next to La Biliere. We would thoroughly recommend any of Mark and Nicola’s houses, especially Rose, as we have seen at first hand the care and attention put into them and the first-class furniture and appliances. Mark and Nicola were always there for us on the end of the phone whenever we had a question or needed advice, but trusted us to enjoy and look after Rose for three months as though it was our own. Reading Nicola’s ‘Gallic Grapevine’ blog on the website has helped so much with learning about the restaurants, towns and the culture here. We will always be grateful to them both for providing us with a home-from-home, and for all their help with our house-hunting and settling in here in Brittany.

Liked best: Peace, comfort, convenience of the property plus advice and help from Nicola and Mark
Liked least: Because the ceiling is high, which makes the main room light and airy, the stairs are rather steep!

“A comfortable, well-equipped house ideally situated for exploring Southern Brittany”
Reviewed 5 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

I have stayed at Nicola's gites for several years. This year daughter Abi came with me for the first week of 3 . Rose is comfortable and well equipped (As all of the gites have been). The owners (Nicola and Mark) are eager to help in any situation and only a phone call away!)
A great base to visit the delights of Southern Brittany.
English TV a bonus (watching Rugby World Cup).
Local restaurant (Vieux Lierre) serves good plain food at reasonable prices.
By the way , if you have strange coloured hair (Abi's is blue) expect a lot of stares!

La Maison Rose is situated in a quiet Breton Village and is a great base for discovering Southern Brittany.

La Gacilly, home to Yves Rocher is only ten minutes away, and just one of the many places you will want to discover! A day just isn`t long enough to explore the cobbled streets and to discover the many many artisan shops that are tucked away in little streets. There is also an outdoor photographic exhibition that is held every summer with literally hundreds of photos displayed throughout the town. Some of our guests return every year just to visit the photo exhibition!

It is very important to us that our guests have the best possible holiday so we are always on hand to help in any way we can.

Although located in a quiet village, La Maison Rose is only 10 minutes from the medieval town of Malestroit and 30 mins from the coastal town of Vannes.

Vannes is a fantastic place to stroll through the cobbled streets, window shopping at its best. Enjoy the mix of clothes shops, jewellers, homeware and shops selling traditional Breton fare!. Restaurants and cafes in abundance, I can never decide where to have lunch!..the menus are all so good!

Vannes also forms part of the Golfe de Morbihan, a protected nature reserve littered with small islands and sandy white beaches all waiting to be discovered.
