Just returned from a visit to this wonderful pub/inn. We had lunch on the day of arrival, and an evening bar meal . Food was brilliant, staff very friendly and attentive, and the décor of the pub and accommodation was first class.

I did submit this when we went and after checking I've realised after going to the trouble my review wasn't published ,I've also submitted this direct to the knife & cleaver so here it is again ..sadly we can't get a table for valentines night ❤️❤️Can't believe we weren't in time..
We went on the 18th January for my husbands birthday and it was our first visit. We had a great evening and found the staff so friendly and welcoming as soon as we attended we were greeted with great big smiles, it's hard when you have not been somewhere before and sometimes a little daunting but the relaxed atmosphere made us feel at ease and I suppose the only way to really express what I mean is when we stepped through the door it felt like a great big hug.

The food was excellent and our choices of the Chicken and Duphonaise potatoes and the Lamb Cutlets were fantastic. We both tried each other's and we were very impressed with the amount and the quality and the plain white plates gave a expensive air to the dishes, the stark whiteness introduced the colours and the textures of the food and managed to do both dishes the justice they so deserved.

We are fans of four in a bed and we remember the establishment being on it and doing very well In fact we both thought at the time that you were robbed and should have been given first place, because the water problem wasn't your fault.

The staff that attended our table were polite and fun at the same time, they asked regularly if we were okay and attended to us and we felt important and they left a nice amount of time between courses so we could decide what we wanted and provided a nice conversation whilst dealing with us.

We had an excellent experience and will be returning and recommending it to our friends. A huge big thank you to Terry, Graham and all the staff involved at the Knife and Cleaver your hard work certainly shines through and we couldn't possibly fault our evening , it's a shame we live so close by as we would love to come and stay and try your accommodation as I'm sure it's second to none.

Thank you and Best wishes to you all
Kind regards Lesley & Steve Badham

What a smashing 'find'. In a tiny quiet village, opposite a beautiful church, and within 15 minutes of so many 'attractions' - from heritage sites like Woburn to the superb shopping in Milton Keynes. A lovely pub that's been renovated with real care and attention. An excellent restaurant or dinner with great food, a decent wine list and on the following day, a slap-up breakfast. A resident multilingual parrot. Terrific staff who maintained smiles even on a very busy Saturday night. A warm welcome for our small dog who had her own little garden to run in and a very comfortable modern bedroom to stay in while we had dinner. And owners who make you feel like you're visiting their home for the weekend. We'll definitely be back!

Room Tip: Smaller (but perfectly lovely) rooms are closer to the doggy garden, larger more sumptous rooms are closer to the main building but do face on to the pretty courtyard which is probably noisier in the summer. Although in the summer you'd want to be on the courtyard with a drink yourself....!

Recently visited the restaurant with 6 other friends for a meal. From the moment we arrived we were struck by the attention to detail and friendly attitude of the staff, particularly the 2 owners who were in attendance in the background making sure everything worked like clockwork. The service and quality of food (particularly the garlic mushrooms hidden away on the vegetarian section) would grace any establishment. Despite the place being very busy, the area where we were seated was a small alcove which added to the intimacy of the meal. The place was spotless and it was obvious that a great deal of hard work had gone into making the establishment as good as it was. Even a friendly parrot to talk to if you wanted. Will definitely be re-visiting in the not too distant future

Room Tip: Did not stay in a room
