We have seen a number of resorts in Fiji and Cook Islands, but the food at Paradise Cove was by far the most advanced of them all. I can totally understand why people travel there just for the 5 course dinners.

The resort is very professionally set up and staff is very friendly. However, comparing with other Fiji resorts it's a bit less authentic. You can tell by the overly (unnaturally) submissive staff and the fact that they prefer greeting you mostly with a 'good morning' over a 'bula, bula!'. We just felt we saw more of the true Fijian nature at places like Navutu Stars.

When booking, please pay attention to the differences of the available rooms. The qualitative gap between the cheaper garden bungalows and the high-end beach front villas is major. You'll almost exclusively see the pictures of the premium rooms online and there is probably a reason why. The garden bungalows are not much different to city hotel rooms, except much darker.

Regarding their internet/wi-fi: Please be aware that even though you get a strong wifi signal everywhere on the grounds, you can hardly use it because their uplink is far too weak. It's worse than being in a 56k modem back in 1997 (for those who remember the times). I was unable to even read my emails because of ongoing timeouts, except at 5:30 in the morning before hundreds of people started to play with their Instagram. However, maybe it's a good thing to be forced to stay offline when being there after all. How else would workaholics truly come down and relax.

The beach is simply awesome. Plenty of sunbeds. Just get your snorkeling gear and you'll find an amazing underwater universe full of fish and corals not more than 10m off the shore. Or use a kayak to paddle around the island in less than an hour.

Room tip: Don't go for the cheapest rooms, they're relatively simple and dark.

This place looked liked a paradise for families with kids. For my husband and I who were looking for a quiet relaxing resort there may have been better options. The adult only area is an enclosed area that has some charm but you're not near the water and can't see the water. We got a beachfront bure which has a large outside bathroom area that was lovely but unfortunately we were very close to the main pool area to enjoy the beachfront without being near the noise and boats coming in. The snorkel with the manta rays was great.

Truly lived up to its name- Paradise. Room was comfortable with a spectacular outdoor shower (very private though). Snorkeling off the beach at all tides was great - plenty of coral and fish to see. Free use of kayaks, SUP boards and a water slide gives you plenty of options. Or just laze by the pool. Separate adults only pools, bar and sun lounges for those without kids too. Kids club and a teen retreat for those with kids.

Diving was fantastic- most sites only a few minutes away. Dive team very friendly and helpful. Appreciate not having to set up my gear or carry tanks!!

The food here is sensational- whilst the food package is compulsory you won’t be disappointed.

We’re foodies, beach lovers, and excessive travelers (quit our jobs to travel the world for 500 days), and have been lucky enough to visit a number of amazing places around the world.

Paradise Cove blew us away. The grounds are stunning, the staff is amazing, and the resort has thought of so many small things to make your stay near perfect, considerations rarely found in any resort experience. If you’re looking for a relaxing vacation (with or without kids), in a beautiful friendly setting with great food, this is the place to visit. Many of the reviewers here have gone into detail about these, so I’m not going to repeat. Instead, I’ll add a few thoughts on things to consider when you book your trip to make it amazing

1) Internet
While there’s a WiFi signal almost everywhere throughout the resort, WiFi here is slow and unreliable. And that’s okay, it allowed us to disconnect. The resort says that each person gets 400mb/day, but it’s unlikely you’ll be able to use that much given the speed of the network. If you want to be able to download a book to your kindle, you’ll likely need to talk to the friendly IT guy (Adesh) to help you out. If you need WiFi for anything more than sending a WhatsApp message, I’d recommend buying a vodafone SIM card ($30-40 usd) at the airport when you arrive.

2) Take Seaplane at least once
We opted to take the seaplane to the resort from the main airport and the ferry back and we’re really happy with the choice. We’ve never been on a seaplane before and it was an amazing experience to land and takeoff from the water, not to mention a faster way to get to the resort after a (long) flight. Taking the ferry back was a great way to see all of the islands by water on our way back home.

3) Bug Spray early
Mosquitos were not a problem when we visited. However, sand flies were an issue. You won’t notice them until a couple of days in, and you’ll regret not applying bug spray—especially on your legs—early and often. Luckily the resort has free to use bug spray and sunscreen all over the place, so be sure to apply before you go lay in the sun. Once we started applying the spray the bugs left us alone.

4) Exercising!
If you like to exercise (like me), you’ll love this resort. It has a modest but very functional gym (especially given the location) with two treadmills, a bike, an elliptical, and free weights. There’s also an amazing hiking trail / running path that the resort carved out which is about 2.5mile roundtrip that goes to the other side of the island as well as plenty of active activities. There’s even a sunset lockout deck not far up the mountain the and resort has a binge of laminated sheets of paper with various plyometric workouts. So thoughtful.

5) Sunrises and Sunsets
When we visited most of the sunrises were muted by the clouds in the AM. However some of the sunsets were amazing. Do the sponsored sunset hike (with champagne) or go on your own to the sunset point

Don’t take any of these points as negatives, just FYIs to make your stay better. We’ve stayed at 100+ beach destinations and this is easily Top 3 in the world for us. Can’t wait to come back again. Vinaka Paradise Cove staff!
